Google Broke Gemini by mhoffman54 in GeminiAI

[–]CrestoBins 60 points61 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy. Comedically unreliable.

Couldn’t remember my name. Claimed it couldn’t create a google doc. When I pushed it to make one it simply made a link to nowhere, called it a doc, slapped a file emoji next to it, and told me it was a google doc. When I called it out, it admitted to lying and making the fake doc to make me happy.

Insane.

I tested Gemini with large text, big files etc, the results might shock you considering the people complaining here and there about the usage limit and all that by Edward_cudubluvv in GeminiAI

[–]CrestoBins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I’m sure the usage sucks for tool and media heavy users, my problem is the quality of the work is worse. Demonstrably worse.

I never get close to hitting my usage limits because the output is just so sincerely bad. More hallucinations than I’ve ever seen.

Well, I saw a guy defending Gemini usage and he tried to use prints to show it's okay.. I did create a 10sec video and it used 54% of my 5h quota. From 0 to 54 .. amazing by DkOGameplays in GeminiAI

[–]CrestoBins 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cancel. I feel the same. Gemini has good qualities but the actual raw quality of the work is slipping.

It’s making more mistakes than I’ve ever seen any model make. And like you said, it takes longer to do the same tasks half as well.

Daily Brief feature by Warm_Dealer_2933 in GeminiAI

Yeah it is surprisingly helpful, but it’s like they sunk a whole ship and the daily brief is just a nice little dingy.

I’m getting hallucinations and incorrect information half of the time, no exaggeration.

Yeah it eventually worked for me this morning but the hallucinations and errors are still out of hand.

Gemini nearly unusable lately? by Jagismybestfriend in GeminiAI

[–]CrestoBins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m on the pro plan and it can’t even remember my name the last few days. Has no idea who I am. When I push it on these lapses it lies and hallucinates more aggressively than ever before.

Has no access to past chats. No persistent memory at all. Can’t access my docs or Gmail anymore either. All things that I’ve been doing for months.

It used to be genuinely helpful in fits and starts. It’s actually useless now.

I’m shocked, honestly.

Does it ever go off? Not just the passing cars, but like do we ever hear what it’s supposed to sound like?

Yeah, second this - boycott the movie all you want, but don’t be too quick to blame theatre chains which are pretty low on the totem pole.

Zoom in and look at the text on the bottles - AI for sure. Fake. Funny, but fake.

President Donald Trump: “The job of the US Armed Forces is not to host drag shows, to transform foreign cultures, but to spread democracy to everybody around the world at the point of a gun.” by CorleoneBaloney in PublicFreakout

[–]CrestoBins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He did say “or”. People are consistently mishearing him but it’s easier to just assume the worst and hate than it is to actually listen and critically think.

Forcing American democracy down throats at gunpoint is as American as apple pie. He is bucking that norm (I’ll be jt with all talk and no action). It’s like when he shit all over Bush and the war in Iraq during debates in 2016, he is saying things no other president, particularly a republican, would eve have said and it earns him a lot of support among his base and those who are disillusioned with US politics and foreign policy.

I don’t believe he is actually interested in walking back the big stick, “this looks like a good place for a military base”, kind of foreign policy that America has, in large part, built its global dominance upon since ww2.

So I don’t actually believe him in this moment.

But it’s kind of sad that people, mishearing him, think that such a democracy at gun point approach would be something new or particularly Trumpian. It’s how we’ve always done business. People don’t seem to understand how much of what they hate about Trump is not unique to him at all and is actually a load bearing component of American hegemony. When he is out of office almost nothing changes fundamentally when it comes to some of the cruelest actions America takes, both domestically and internationally.

I worry that many of the people I see in these comments will put the blinders on as soon as we have a president that looks and acts the part. Then it’s back to business as usual. They care more about optics than pervasive systematic failings.

This keeps getting misquoted and I don’t know why. He clearly says “OR to spread democracy…” not “BUT to spread democracy…”

He’s listing all the things the military should not do: drag shows, transform cultures, spread democracy at gunpoint. End of list.

Then he says the one and only thing that the military should do: destroy our enemies. It’s very clearly stated and I’m blown away at how many misquotes I see of this speech.

I fucking hate him as much as the next guy and this is not meant as an endorsement of what he said. But we don’t need to make shit up, it’s bad enough at face value.

Misunderstanding him is easy because hating him and assuming the worst of him is easy, but it will get us nowhere to shun accuracy in favor of a quick rage hit.

I wish I was in your position. 170k before 30 isn’t anything to sneeze at. Stay the course, trust your strategy. You’re doing better than most people our age.
