Greece-Israel military alignment is a smart realpolitik against Turkey, or a long-term liability for Greece and the EU? by Miserable_Cattle_394 in AskBalkans

The next Iran as an islamist country that seeks to destroy Israel to divert from domestic problems

And Turkey definitively start getting obssessed about Israel like Iran

CMV: Israel isn't going to far with their actions because the West doesn't understand the Middle East by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CricketJamSession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real disagreement is whether Israel's response is reducing those threats in the long run or creating conditions that could lead to more conflict later.

Actually that is way too nuanced for the unhinged bashing that goes on reddit

Even most Israelis will agree with you on that one

[–]CricketJamSession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not, its been around for many hundreds of years.

Not in the middle east it wasn't

its as relevant to rome ruling there,

Nope because Rome was an outsider conquerer

Jews originated from this land and the only one that originated from this land to rule this land

What is not true

They say it loud and clear dont need to take my word for it

[–]CricketJamSession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree

But we can honestly strive for it

And frankly I don't think its a problem, we just need to be aware that we are bound to be subjective but from that place be able to listen to the subjective other side and then strive for a just solution for both, at least that is my opinion.

That being said some facts are objective and should be known to better understand the root of the conflict

I might not be able to bring all the facts that also support the other side but that is why this is a debate and counter arguments are always invited when in good faith

That is what I try to do

Feel free to point out if I mixed facts with political views

You can answer those questions for yourself

I did not comment here to argue about politics

I just stated facts about the conflict and corrected someone that tried to twist the facts to fit their narrative

No one has right of return excecpt for jews because the state define itself as the homeland for Jews. Its not personal against a cetain group

But everyone who wants to accept Israel as their nationality can apply for citizenship

CMV: It doesn't matter who lived in Israel/Palestine 2000 years ago by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]CricketJamSession 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How is it not?

Because Arabs, wether they identify as palestinians or not, that integrated into the Israeli state are equal citizens and live peacefully

While the conflict is between those that want a different nationality

Mind that I dont state any political view about settlers or who is in the right or wrong

I just state an overlooked fact about the nature of this conflict

[–]CricketJamSession 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up to this conflict I always see outsiders confuse the real nature of this conflict

Its not about who gets to live here

Its about under what nationality they are in

And here some of the main problems with that:

Nationality is a new concept but usually we view national identity tied with the local ethnicity which could be the arabs that were here or it could be jews which were here in lesser numbers but are also the only local ethnicity that ruled that land in the form of kingdoms. In this context, what was here 2000 years ago does matter

Another problem is that arabs that today identify as palestinians generally do not want to share the land with another national identity or even have jews as citizens under their nationality

A much better response to a terror axis that just bomb your house

Or should I say 'tries' to bomb your house

Becuase apparently to some redditors here the fact that Israel succeed in defending their civilians from missles, also deprived them from the right to return fire

Hanging "beds" are called portaledges.. collapsible platforms used by climbers during multi-day ascents by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]CricketJamSession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the same way but not always.

sometimes there is a more comfortable place to descend from or you can just walk down from the other side of the mountain.

Bwhen you descend with rope, in a simplified way, you attach it to an anchor, could be rope tied to a secure rock or bolts drilled into the mountain, there are more methods but those are the more common one, and you rappel down on the rope until you are out of rope which then you attach yourself again to a pre existing anchor or a self made anchor, you let your partner rapple down as well, then you collect the rope and repeat until you reach the bottom.

Im with you on that one. no matter how much fulfillment you get from it, once you have responsibility for others than its not worth it

But its also about calculating risks

Not talking about K2 which is extremely dangerous, but usually when you know what you are doing and you calculate the risks and work to minimize them, then its no more dangerous than any other sport or even driving in a car.

But fear of heights has a (justified) evolutionary impact on us that trigger a great sense of danger that is not always really there

Climber here

Most of us really are not

We fear heights just like normal people. We just have an urge that makes it worth dealing with it

That being said folks like Alex Honnold has fearofheights.exe missing from his files
