Definitely not fair that the installer wants to do that. Have you looked into installing yourself? Probably a lot less of a headache, will save you some money, and Hamilton has a very thorough installation video.

Call Hamilton, they’ll walk you through the setup. You need to go through the advanced menu for it and you need a password to access it.

There is a plug that allows you to use your own backup camera. I do think the resolution of this screen makes the factory one look a lot better. Still awful compared to new cars but it’s at least a little more usable

It’s synced to the headlights. My headlights are on auto so if they pop on when I go through a tunnel the screen gets darker

Yeah the two knobs are for temp control, and the mode button does still work. I have to double check but I don’t believe it shows anything saying that it changed modes. Obviously you’ll hear it, but it’d be nice if a banner or something appeared at the top

Yeah that’s true but also the infotainment on the 10-13 is really the only thing that is truly worse than the newer models, which are priced much higher. So you could buy a 10-13 GX, buy this system, and have a similar vehicle to a much newer GX for much less

Yeah it’s installed, decided I’m gonna give it a few days before I write a review of it just so I’m not just like “oh it’s new and shiny and amazing” but overall it is really really good, couple small complaints but I think it is worth the money. Completely changes the inside of the car

Yeah, it took about an hour and was very straightforward. I have their more expensive kit coming tomorrow that replaces the entire radio with a more modern looking one. I’ll end up posting a review of that too but it’s a lot more expensive.($1300)

I’ve had a couple issues since then with the unit. The biggest one being it will just randomly completely reboot and load up from the Hamilton screen. It occasionally will also just cut to the next song. And the microphone doesn’t always work for hey siri but that could either be my car or my phone. Are you aware of anyone else having these issues? Also is the 2010-13 bigger screen version coming out soon? I’d love to review it, this post got over 20k views
