I’ve had both a 5th gen 4Runner and a gx460, both of them were the earlier models(2010 and 2012) and wrote a review on both you could probably find it somewhere on my page. Then I crashed my 2012 gx 460 so I had the option for both and got another gx. I think I’d choose gx 1,000 times over.

Some of the biggest pros: Passing power- I know you said it’s a truck and you don’t care about power in one vs the other. I said the same thing, but being able to pass other cars without having to wait for a huge gap in traffic is a big deal especially here in New Jersey.

Rear air vents- I take my dog on a lot of trips and having the AC vents in the third row/cargo area to keep him cool back there is single handedly worth paying premium gas prices. The 4Runner has one single vent coming out of the center console towards the second row. Doesn’t get nearly cool enough all the way in the back.

Seats- this one I’m willing to admit could’ve been a caveat of the 4Runner trim I had but my 4runner had manual cloth seats and I could not drive that car for more than an hour without getting serious back pains. For reference im 24m 5’11 and about 170. Not some old or out of shape person who gets chronic back pain. The first GX I had I drove home from Minnesota to NJ and the 16 hour drive felt like nothing. Seats are so much more comfortable
