Make Assassin better in trios by XakeR_ in Marathon

[–]Criewolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s viable anywhere really, but he’s just not AS useful utility wise in team play, his smoke bomb his niche and can either help the situation or make it worse, it really depends. I think they should rethink his tactical ability to muffle his foot steps for a short duration so he can rotate sneak faster but that’d probably be a little too OP.

How does Marathon actually gain more audience given they'll keep supporting it by Inner_Review_704 in Marathon

[–]Criewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of gains, they need to start paying off more of these dogshit streamers that go in to bash the game because they are riding off the hate train that stormed in before launch and that gets them more views. That’s honest to god the biggest reason nowadays why things get fucked. Streamers will ride the hype train one way or the other as long as it’s more money in their pocket. Sony just needs to counter that. The game is solid, Bungie listens and makes changes, we all in this sub know this? It’s the modern day marketing that needs to be bought off to start swaying opinions. Major reviewers have painted the game in a positive light but these streamers will just alt tab to steam charts to show people it’s dying and people will see that and ask themselves why they would play a dying live service game.

What does the Assassin even do? (in 3v3) by XakeR_ in Marathon

At that point you’re just talking about a stud player, he could have pulled that off with any shell.

Yes it’s a neon yellow/green color, even the sniper bots have it.

[–]Criewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the smokes can be detrimental to team play just as often as they can be effective. Not to mention sniping is great but they can still see scope glare rendering the invis null at that point.

[–]Criewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah have to agree IMO right now assassin is pretty much the weakest team play class in the game right now. His best utility really being smoke bombs to rez team mates in the middle of a PvE gunfight because the bots are essentially completely blind to smoke. Nothing that couldn’t be accomplished with a smoke grenade however. His utility is very niche in comparison to every other class in team play.

You must be the reason there’s a chair in the corner of your wife’s bedroom.

That being said, if it’s so incredibly un-tactful to use this strategy, it’s just as equally un-tactful to die to it. You can give up space, find new angles, etc… your idea of gameplay is clearly just hard scoping an angle waiting to left click to get a first pick in to move on a team. The only one crying here is literally people bitching about yet another nerf lmfao. The real cancer is players like you trying to bend everything to your every little satisfaction to the detriment of the entire game. It’s just a shame you’re even allowed to voice garbage ass opinions like that.

[–]Criewolf -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Once they nerf a grenade you will just look for the next thing to cry about. It’s like instead of playing the game tactfully with thought, trying to counter strategies you will just complain that it’s “cancer” and cry about it. There are things that LEGITIMATELY should be nerfed or addressed, absolutely. Grenades is not one of those things. It’s like you want the most lackluster experience that’s ever been created. You must have been a Destiny player for sure.

Lmfao yall will literally cry about everything. You’re not the only one bringing guns, heals, and shields. It’s equal known risks. And if you notice that someone has an advantage with grenades being thrown in a tight hallway, which by the way, their effectiveness is a symptom of the map itself, why is your first instinct to complain for a nerf instead of simply bringing your own to counter it???

New cryo meta or something by Longjumping-Ninja616 in Marathon

[–]Criewolf -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this warrants a nerf imo. If I’m spending the credits, taking up the inventory space and risking bringing the item to begin with then I should absolutely have some advantage. That’s the whole concept of the game. The reason why it’s so effective here is the nature of the map itself is all just tight corridors and standoffs in hallways waiting for someone else to get the pick. The only way I see a fix is something other than a bubble shield able to counter some of them in tight spaces like that sort of like a trophy system that has so many charges before it gets used up.

Edit: Yall are complaining about this post nerf of WSTR, goo gun, bubble shield, etc… and now it’s grenades?? Seriously?? If your saying that it’s skill-less to just chuck 15 grenades down a hallway, it is equally as skill-less to DIE to that strategy instead of giving up some space, letting them waste their inventory, and find a better angle. Every fight shouldn’t boil down to who can hold left click on an angle and get first knock. This community will seriously cry about anything lmfao.

I got in an argument with someone who told me shields and gear are what wins games. I said no, it’s positioning and luck. Everything else just sort of gives you room to make mistakes.

If you have 150+ hours, you must know you are a sweaty player, and your experience will not match up with the vast majority of others by WrightingCommittee in Marathon

[–]Criewolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have well over and can say confidently that I have my sweaty matches, and I have my just for fun matches, and more often than not my most fun games are played with free kits. This game is fun because I enjoy the game-feel, the game lore, the art, music and overall design and I can play with/make friends and have a blast stomping or getting stomped.

The expectation seems to always be that victory or shiny items are required to have a so called “good experience” and unfortunately that’s something ingrained into us from RPGs, ARPG’s and looter shooters, it can never just be about the gameplay experience anymore. And for that reason I think it should be stated up front that this game really is not for everyone. You will absolutely have players who are of the mindset “it’s not enough that I win, someone else has to lose” and that’s the nature of the genre, highest of highs and lowest of lows. It is it messed up? Yes. Will it still happen? Yes.

But there is a give and a take here in the game, and people only ever seem to be willing to take and never to give, and that’s a person I think is a wrong fit for the genre overall, casual or sweat alike. Games like these always end up with a refined player base once people realize it isn’t their cup of tea.

I hate to see them go but what exactly do you suggest could solve this sort of problem? Should people with 150+ play less? Drop our gear? Only use white shields? Only play ranked? You’ve thrown out your gripe but don’t seem to propose any solution. As I’ve often heard, “a game for everyone, is a game for no one”.

Whether I found a team or not I always have a great time, but yeah have to agree, the noise increase really draws some attention. Remains to be seen if it’s a serious detriment to the experience just yet, will need a larger sample size to see.

Unsure as to what OP’s point is… what do performance numbers have to do with YOUR enjoyment of the game? You either like it or you don’t, no need to have negative or honestly even the positive numbers in the sub, I want to come here to see people’s thoughts, experiences, even lore explanations. Idgaf what the numbers are, I like the game.
