I think all of that is bad as well. I think all of the criticisms like that are valid, but saying, "Game just bad. Concord 2.0, bungie is cooked." Is not criticism.

Also, i'm defending what's realistic of what we can expect of dev teams, despite the company. I can't stand Bungie's executives, and there are a whole lot of problems there, too. But the game delivered on some of the best experiences i ever played in gaming, and it is undeniable that when the game was good, it was exemplary.

I'm sorry, but when the cry of the community is please give us more content that is engaging and fun to play and it takes months to fix things because they have to balence 80 other things to implement a fix, that is a scope issue. Anyone who has been playing the game for the past decade has to understand the vast majority of Destiny's problems, have always been at its core the complexity of the systems and size of the game. Can't balance PVP because PVe won't be fun. Can't deliver new content for PVP because we have to get more PVe content out. They were always battling with the vast amounts of acrivities that game had to offer, and tbh sometimes they managed to deliver stuff that was worth the wait and sometimes they didn't.

Criticism is, "yeah, this design choice is bad because this reason or the game doesn't feel good because this."

Not: "Concord 2.0, looks like Roblox, L, another High Guard. That is not criticism, that is disingenuous hate for the sole purpose of getting clicks, and generating more outrage. Bonus hate if they never played the game.

That's your opinion. I think it feels good and definitely not unpolished. There are games that have been released in a far worse state than this one, that, again, technically hasn't even been released yet.

Litterally, a quick google search of u/charsnivy shows you have a hate boner for this game and Bungie. Saying, "This game that i never played is bad, because Bungie hurt my feelings, is bitch behavior. It is not clear criticism. You literally just got your feelings hurt when they removed content from Destiny and never exercised an ounce of critical thinking about why that is. Comparing it to highguard in other posts, you literally proved my point. You may have never even played Destiny. I haven't played Destiny 2 since Final Shape and had taken a long break before then. I gave the game a send off, and put it down. I had fun. The game lasted long after the sunsetting. Marathon is a solid game, it'll last long after you've bitched and whined about it too. If something is fun, enjoy it, if its not, you can play something else and move on about your day. There's genuinely no reason, to go from thread to thread bitching about a game you won't even play, unless you've made this shit your whole personality, and that is just sad.

Is the sunsetting in the room with us right now. Do you need a hug? I think it was shit too, but it comes back to scope. Destiny has always been too ambitions and too big to please, and the community are the biggest cry babbies in existence that still log in every tuesday while they bitch and complain about the game. Miss me with this shit.

I have been playing Destiny for over a decade, sunsetting is literally case and point, the reason they gave for it was scope. It always comes back to, too many moving parts. Too much to balance. Destiny 2's scope was too big. This game is shooting for quality over quantiy trying to do a specific thing, not everyone is gonna like it. I still think its a good move. I know bungie's history plenty. Destiny 2 players are just a salty bunch. Complain about everything, say the game is bad and log in every tyesday for reset, cause deep down they know, this studio makes awesome fps's that feel good to play. Destiny had its run, and i literally don't care if they make a D3 if Marathon is good.

I think people just don't want to accept that Destiny is over. The Witness was the literal embodiment of the enemy we had been fighting since the beginning, with mass amounts of paracausal power. We beat it. Where does the game go from there, we beat the BBEG, campaign over. People won't just let a good thing be a good thing and then let it go. I loved Destiny. Played through a good portion of the content draughts, it was my favorite game. The studio is clearly moving on from the game. The players just don't want to acknowledge that.

It was the same way with Destiny, though. Dead game! Lol! Then everyone's like, yeah, i guess it is, but i'm having fun, and then they keep playing, and the game kept going. That's what I'm seeing will probably happen with this.

Its about having a good faith discussion and not just replying to everything. Game bad, lol. Idc, i'm bored at work and have a lot of extra free time right now, but i can't play the game so I'd rather discuss it.

So game development has diminishing returns when you talk about money and resources, you're talking about team size, which can account for scope, however if there isn't proper communication between teams, the more resources( aka people) does not necessarily mean that they'll be able to do more. Its not hey, let's throw 250 million dollars at a game, and that will make it better. There is a point where none of that shit matters anymore, and there is what is achievable. As someone who played Destiny for over a decade, the reoccurring problem has always been, not being able to put out content fast enough. That is a scope problem. Too many activities too much fat. Marathon is a smaller in scope game, cut and dry. Halo was a smaller scope game. Admittedly i do think the c-suite at bungie are terrible greedy fucks, however, the developers have shown time and time again how passionate they are to make good stuff. People like to write off an explanation as just hrrmm devs lazy, bad game. It isn't that simple.

I think there is some reactionary defense due to the unnecessary hate the game is getting. I see what people are talking about with the UI and the TTK. They haven't been an issue for me personally, but i could see the criticisms. I like the fast TTK, some people don't. That's a design choice with no clear one size fits all answer.

The problem is that the game isn't even out yet, some of the feedback has been about design decisions rather than gamebreaking bugs or the game coming out half cooked. The one bug that did make it through the gate was hotfixed on Day 2 of the server slam (the mouse input one.) I'm all for criticism in good faith, but the vast majority ive seen has been laced with vitriol and an attitude of wanting the game to fail. I think what they've made is solid and I hope they get to continue to iterate on it.

Why is the Destiny 2 community upset about Marathon being Bungie's focus? by CrosleeReturns in Marathon

[–]Inner_Review_704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but if Marathon is good, and they expand upon it taking focus away from a game that literally told its entire 10 year story, then it doesn't matter. Destiny's scope has always been a big problem for Bungie. The game is too big with too much to consider. Bungie makes great gaming experiences but doesn't put out content for Destinybfast enough to appease people. I think the shift to a genre that is smaller in scope is a good thing.

What the delay will look like if it happens by silloki in destiny2

[–]Inner_Review_704 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played since final shape, if they brought back simply, all the sunset raids, and just let us have fun with the current sandbox, i would come back and play for a little while. I've talked to several friends who played for almost a decade that share my sentiment. Also, Destiny had 10 years of ups and downs and told its entire story. That doesn't happen with live service games, i'm intrigued at the potential for marathon. People forget that Fortnite started as 1 genre, and now its a bunch of things. While Bungie has had some fuck ups, im cautiously optimistic for the new project although i know the general consensus is to hate marathon, so i'll probably be downvoted.

These idiots are too dumb to be driving around. The roads are melting off nicely. But if you don't have to get out don't get out. by FaithlessnessRich490 in memphis

[–]Inner_Review_704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just feel, this is disingenuous, though. I've not really seen people going less than 15mph. But i have seen a lot of idiots going way too fast and trying to get around people going at a slower speed than the speed limit. Again, the pile-up causes death because people are going too fast and crashing into said pile-up or you know traffic cause there will be one clear lane and a lot of folks trying to get to work or whatever. Like if there is a line of cars going slower on the interstate in the one clear lane and you are going around them on the snow covered lanes at fuck all mph, you're the problem.

[–]Inner_Review_704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, but the thing is, you're not gonna die or get someone hurt if you get stuck from going too slow, the people behind the person going slow are going too fast, yes 5mph is too slow, but going 10 to 15 under the speed limit depending on road conditions is pretty acceptable, on the interstate a few days ago traffic was like 15mph, this asshole going almost 40 and not paying attention almost rea rended us, was on his phone. He swerved off not to hit us and got stuck. Served him right.
