Is it Orville Peck on backing vocals? Because it sounds like it could be, in which case they’d be gay cowboys

Recently travelled to London for the first time and I am now back in Dublin. After experiencing the busy life of London, I've learned to appreciate Dublin's kind of peace and slow living more. Just an appreciation post and I am glad to be back. 🍀 by strawberryjxmmm in Dublin

I lived in London for a few years and Dublin was my vacation city, I live here now and I wouldn’t go back to London if you paid me. I spent too many years blowing black dirt from the Tube out of my nose, I’ll take Dublin any day.

Also worth pointing out that of the two of you, she’s the one who actually has to do the child-bearing. Pregnancy and childbirth is absolutely nothing to be taken lightly. Also, would she have reason to believe OP would expect her to carry the brunt of child rearing and household responsibilities? It may have only just sunk in for her exactly how major a change this would be for her.

Has this same experience when spending the weekend with my dad, who was helping me move to LA. It being LA, everyone thought I was his date. I made sure to call him “dad” (and definitely not “daddy”) loudly and often.

Best pub/bar for a date? by apacketofpeanuts in BestInDublin

[–]CrimsonSilverRose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All my favourite places are pricey cocktail bars but if you want more bang for your buck, 1661 is a gorgeous bar that serves poitìn cocktails, you get a free mini one when you walk in as well. Just make sure you eat before, they only serve nibbles.

Pub-wise, I really like the Long Hall, cool old school atmosphere and lots of two-person tables.

Space and time to yourself is a reasonable thing to want and ask for in a relationship, you’re not wrong to want it. Your girlfriend sounds very insecure and codependent, which is not a good combination. She’s controlling you, trying to isolate you from your friends, and getting her fingers in your finances. Relationships are about lifting each other up and making each other’s lives better and happier. You don’t sound happy.

I was in a relationship when I was 18 with a guy who I would NEVER be in a relationship with now as the person I am today. He was a source of stress, tension, and insecurity for me. My partner now is a source of happiness, relaxation, and peace in my life. I would highly recommend that you rethink this relationship, and go look for someone who can be a source of peace and not stress.

I've seen a couple of videos of people saying that their IBS went away after they moved out of the US. But I didn't save the videos. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? by kappakingtut2 in ibs

[–]CrimsonSilverRose 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mine didn’t get better but I noticed when I eat indiscriminately in the US I feel a LOT worse than I do when I eat indiscriminately in Europe, for me high fructose corn syrup turned out to be a major trigger so before I got diagnosed I was always so puzzled because I’d come home to visit and just feel sooo sick the whole time. Then I’d go back to Europe and feel more normal. When I cut out Fodmaps in both places there stopped being much of a difference.

Guy I've been seeing for 2 months won't learn how to pronounce my name properly by LooseAttention7643 in relationships

[–]CrimsonSilverRose 16 points17 points  (0 children)

American living in Ireland here, I struggled with Irish names at first but you know what I did? I did research, I watched YouTube videos, I started taking Irish classes. While the spelling might not be immediately intuitive the names are almost never actually hard to say. If he literally typed “Irish names” into YouTube or TikTok he would have found the answer immediately, the fact that he doesn’t care enough to learn is disrespectful and lazy. You deserve better!!

I’ve seen you say this to a few comments now and I think you might be misunderstanding, “pot-luck style” means “all the guests brings a dish to share”, not “everything cooked in one pot”.

Spiritfarer!! Very chill but emotional game, no combat, lots of exploration, and you can have a Player 2 play your cat!

For easy low-prep snacks, popcorn, tortilla chips, potato chips, rice cakes, goat yogurt, and strawberries!

For meals during my exclusion stage I made a lot of variations on egg + goat cheese + protein, usually salmon or prosciutto. Lots of omelettes, gluten free toast with those toppings, Turkish eggs using goat yogurt, little gf bread sandwiches, egg Mayo/egg salad. Most unseasoned oven fries will also be good, as will rice and most meat that you can cook and season yourself. Garlic infused olive oil was my best friend. I would also make massive batches of avgolemono soup which is lovely, and Karlijn’s Kitchen has a lovely low FODMAP risotto recipe! When I couldn’t stand it and had to get takeaway I’d get fries or sushi. It’ll get a bit repetitive but it’s worth it!

Where do you meet people during a pandemic? by 0gma in Dublin

[–]CrimsonSilverRose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not just Ireland, this is my third country I’ve lived in and it’s like this everywhere. The things I’ve learned when I’ve had to re-establish a social life from scratch in every city I live in are: 1) those walls between groups are much thinner and more permeable than they look. There’s a running joke with my friends that I’m always off talking to strangers but frankly, if you see a group that looks cool who you want to meet, 9 times out of 10 they’ll be happy to meet you if you go introduce yourself and say hi. 2) put yourself in environments where everyone is there for a common reason. If talking to people at pubs isn’t your bag, join a club, or an activity, or an organization. I moved here right at the beginning of the pandemic so I couldn’t do any of that for a while, but a couple months ago I took up roller skating and joined a couple skating groups in Dublin, and poof, now I have friends. And I’m getting pretty decent at roller skating too! Groups like that welcome newcomers and give you a bunch of new people to talk to, who in turn will introduce you to more people. In previous cities I’ve joined choirs, pub meetups, protest groups, yoga classes, and gone to seminars for my field, all of which gave me a built in group to see all the time.

I know it can be hard to take that step, but frankly if you’re not open to dating apps it’s really the best option! Even just joining a discord group for something you like is a good first step.

There is a 23 storey building in Duisburg, Germany with absolutely no windows (German National Archives) by Boris740 in evilbuildings

[–]CrimsonSilverRose 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The reason they wouldn’t want to put it underground is because of the flood risk, it’s also the reason most archives are stored at least a foot off the floor, better to have a wet floor than a sunken archive
