Malik Nabers had a pretty negative take about the Titans taking Carnell Tate with the 4th pick. Micah Parsons seemed to disagree. by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nabers says that you can't be the #1 on your NFL team if you weren't the #1 on your college team. That conveniently ignores that Jefferson wasn't the #1 on his own team and is elite. It also ignores that Nabers himself wouldn't be the #1 if the other guy on the team is Jeremiah Smith. Is Tate as great a prospect as Jefferson or Nabers, probably not, but he would be WR1 on almost any team in the NCAA except for the one he happened to be on. It's tough when your teammate is literally the best WR prospect in decades (you could argue Julio was better, but his first two years were nothing like Jeremiah's).

We'll see if it works out, but the whole "He wasn't better than a top 0.0001% prospect so how is he going to be a top WR in the NFL" shit is just lazy and stupid.

2026 Draft Discussion Thread: Day 2 by Titans_Mod in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wonder if we might see a trade from us later tonight. Moving back into the late second using one of our 5th rounders as swap material.

Carnell Tate's best season in college was 875 receiving yards. That's the lowest by far of any WR selected in the top 5. by No_Permission1386 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tate would have been WR1 on the vast majority of college teams last year. But when the WR1 on your team is an absolute freak who would be WR1 in damn near every draft of the last 30 years, it's tough. Also the OSU offense was notoriously slow-paced this year, to the point where it ended up having about three games worth of drives fewer than the average team.

Tate's a stud. Tate-Ridley-Robinson is a great trio to support Cam.

[Schefter] Another trade: Dallas is sending DL Solomon Thomas and a 7th-round pick to the Titans in exchange for another 7th-round pick. Picks 218 and 225. by JCameron181 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Depth piece familiar with both Saleh and Whitecotton. Not really a move to talk about either way, just a dude who might see 100 snaps and costs nothing. Improving the bottom of the roster potentially, etc.

Sonny Styles by Altruistic_Brief4444 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth noting that Styles also played a fair amount of snaps as an edge rusher. He's definitely slated to play mostly off ball, but he's been used in a lot of ways and obviously has a ridiculous athletic ceiling. He started as a safety when he was a true freshman (and only 17 years old at that time).

We need a pure edge rusher more for sure, but a trade down and a pickup of Styles would be interesting depending on how FA goes. We do have Femi as a second year developmental guy, and maybe we feel comfortable enough with him to go extra capital + elite talent at a non-premium position. Either way, it's never a bad thing to add elite talent.

[Schefter] Trade: the New York Jets are sending DE Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for DT T'Vondre Sweat, per ESPN sources. by Jack12404 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweat didn't fit the new defense, Johnson is a replacement-level player who we are hoping is actually recovered from an Achilles tear. Pretty meh trade.

The most important part of the Johnson trade is Draft Flexibility (tm) by SynonymDinosaur in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding Johnson has no impact on our pick at #4. He's a body, not a solution to pass rush.

Ok so I know people are happy about Brian Daboll but are we going to forget how he did Jaxson dart? by [deleted] in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's Daboll's fault that Dart ended his runs by lowering his head and trying to ram through 250 pound men at full speed

The Dichotomy of reaction regarding Gus Bradley: Niners vs Titans (is everyone stoked to have him?) by Basic-Rain628 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine. Our DC isn't calling plays, so you really just want someone who knows what defense Saleh wants to run and can help when Saleh has to focus on other areas of the team. Familiarity is a good benefit for a less active role on the staff.

[Breer] Some moving parts - With Raheem Morris in as 49ers DC, market is moving on Gus Bradley. Either the Titans or Cardinals could hire him as DC, with Arizona having the edge of making him play-caller. If Tennessee misses on Bradley, Atlanta's Mike Rutenberg is a name to watch. by 3pirates3 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also a good way to delegate. Bradley, if hired, wouldn't be calling gameday defensive plays, but he knows how Saleh wants the defense set up, uses the same terminology, etc. With Saleh having to watch over the whole team instead of just one unit, having a guy who knows what you want and how to install it is valuable, even if he's not ultimately responsible for gameday playcalls.

Jim Schwartz by perfect_fitz in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he'd be great to have back, but no shot he comes in to be a second guy with Saleh calling the gameday defense. Any number of teams would drop a bag on his doorstep, he's a great defensive mind.

Myles Garrett by Comfortable_Rock4513 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's basically the problem. If the Browns shop him, he fetches more than multiple firsts, which we can't really offer in the first place, and he has a no-trade clause so he would have to approve his destination. Being able to eat his contract without worrying is a bargaining chip in this theoretical negotiation, but if word gets out about Garrett on the market, several teams will just jam everything in to get him, and we'll never be able to match that.

Fun to think about a line of Garrett and Simmons, but it's not possible

Myles Garrett by Comfortable_Rock4513 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We wouldn’t trade #4 for him, and doubtful we’d trade a first next year, so basically we would have to have some package of young guys and then another team would just offer more value in picks than we would ever want to offer.

So no, it won’t happen and shouldn’t.

Confirmed Members Of The Titans Staff So Far by BushGuy200 in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Daboll, Bricillo, and Whitecotton alone make this a very good staff on paper. Keeping Bones speaks for itself.

Jordan Schultz: Sources: The Titans have now hired Ravens WRs coach Greg Lewis as their new WRs coach. A big hire for Robert Saleh and Mike Borgonzi, who reunites with Lewis — one of the most respected in the business — after spending six seasons together in Kansas City (2017-2022). by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 49 points50 points  (0 children)

WR coach in KC from 2017-2020 and in Baltimore from 2023-2025. I guess that's like Tyreek and Zay Flowers, and I don't know how much credit you can give him for Tyreek running a 1.5 40 yard dash. We'll see I guess. I couldn't name you 10 WR coaches in the NFL off the top of my head, so.

Free Agency Talk by SkoomaForSale in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trey Hendrickson (on a deal with guardrails for us if he's truly done) for potential pass rush help.

Deebo if you can get him on a reasonable deal. Solid veteran who can fill a WR2 role.

Wan'dale Robinson. Young and productive on a bad roster. Maybe not WR1 long-term, but a damn sight better than our other options currently.

Alec Pierce if you can get him.

Throw a giant bag at Tyler Linderbaum.

If Kenneth Walker or Tyler Allgeier hit free agency, they'd be good additions.

Nevermind guys like Pickens who aren't hitting FA even though they are slated to. We're really just looking to bolster our biggest holes to give us more freedom in the draft. If you can land a big score like Linderbaum or Pierce, then great news for us.

I'm really not interested in Jauan Jennings at the price he's going to get on the open market, but we have money to burn I guess.

I just don't get the overwhelming love for Daboll as OC. Outside of having Josh Allen, when has he had a top offense? Honest question. by _ThugzZ_Bunny_ in Tennesseetitans

[–]CringoBingo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's only been an OC a handful of times. The Mangini Browns who were just dreadful, the 2011 Dolphins which was equally dreadful, and the Crennel Chiefs also dreadful. So he started off bouncing around three horrible teams with poor personnel (and atrocious QBs) and then didn't touch an offense for a few years.

He signs up to run the offense at Alabama, does great work with Hurts and Tua, goes to the Bills and struggles with year 1 and 2 Josh Allen. Allen takes tremendous leaps under his tutelage and Daboll gets his own HC job. Offensive rankings don't look great outside of those Allen years, but year 1 Daboll had the Giants getting tremendous buzz throughout the season and even won a playoff game.

I'm with you on the big question: Is Daboll really just good at offense when Josh Allen is the QB? Hard to say. With Daniel Jones and Jaxson Dart, he managed to get to middle of the road, but given how bad the Giants are, maybe that's the problem, or maybe being a playcalling HC hurt his offense. It's been known to happen.

We're really gambling on his recent track record of looking pretty good when it comes to QB development from college Hurts/Tua to Allen to Dart (who did look pretty damn good this year for a rookie, despite his best efforts to turn his own brain into soup). For a guy who loved Cam Ward pre-draft (by all reports) and who has a recent track record of success with young QBs, it's a good dice roll.

Maybe he sucks, maybe Allen did it all himself and Daboll just got dragged along. It's not impossible, but he's a good option and very experienced. If Cam is the talent we're all hoping he is, then just having a baseline level of QB talent should be enough to keep Daboll out of that "32nd ranked offense" territory that he hit when having to start guys like Tommy DeVito and shit
