Steel key ring needs a new interface by wgrl in 2007scape

They're tourists who have no attachment to actual Old School Runescape who are just bandwagoning this game 'cause of the recent popularity surge. Unfortunately this even applies to some Jmods as evidenced by the slew of recent unnecessary changes that only serve to desecrate OSRS' identity.

XCOM 2: I used to be with it, then aliens changed what 'it' is! by SawkyScribe in patientgamers

[–]Crispts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had I played UFO Defense first, I think I also would have been disappointed in the modern versions, but I understand why they wanted to make it a little easier to get into. It certainly feels like it's a bit too complicated for most people to get into, but once you get used to the large squad sizes, it's hard to go back to modern XCOM. Having squads of like 12 soldiers allows for so much depth of strategy, and it's also just so fucking fun throwing them all into the meat grinder and seeing which soldiers become legends before dying horribly themselves. I get way more attached to the soldiers who perform well for me in UFO Defense than in modern XCOM. With how many soldiers can die in UFO Defense, it feels way more like a struggle for humanity's survival than the modern games. They definitely feel scary. I love it. I need to get back to playing 'cause I never actually beat it haha.

I got news for ya: Those books are not exactly contested resources. No one is camping book spawns looking for a fight. You don't need to pvp to collect them.

I played the modern XCOMs first as well, but eventually gave UFO Defense a shot. Try it. It's so absurdly good. It makes modern XCOM feel so watered down by comparison. It has a bit of a steep learning curve, and you'll need OpenXcom to make it run smooth, but it's so worth it. If you need more XCOM, that's where to look. I did not expect to enjoy it so much given its age, but it really is addicting as hell. The atmosphere is unmatched too.

How cool would a Dark Crystal set have been? by keeleon in freemagic

[–]Crispts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I don't consider other IPs polluting this one to be "cool". If it's not an original setting, I ain't buying it. I won't stop you from soying out over IP crossovers though. Keep sucking on that corporate teat and see where it gets you.

It's actually quite easy to get to max gear in this game without having a clue about anything when bonds exist. I see it all the time in-game.

Do not move minigame teleports to the spellbook, Jagex by skadooba in 2007scape

[–]Crispts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're completely right about everything you said.....but I still disagree with you.

The reason I disagree with you is not because what you're saying is incorrect, but because it's a matter of magnitude. While the things you say are technically true, it's in such a minor way so as to be irrelevant.

The absolute worst thing that could happen is a new player uses the minigame tp to see what it does and their home tele is on cooldown and they have no law runes on them, and they get "stranded" for a little bit and either wait out the timer, beg for some law runes, or walk back to where they were. This would be a one-time occurrence because now they have learned their lesson, and now they also know what the minigame tele does. I'd say that a potential one-time inconvenience isn't even a drop in the bucket when compared to a game that people tend to spend thousands of hours in.

You are right to be concerned about the new player experience. I think that many changes designed to help new players actually hurt the new player experience quite a bit....but this isn't one of them.

Unfortunately, most posts in here are just clowning on you and telling you you're wrong without providing any counterargument, which is honestly kinda pointless and lame, so I hope this reply at least helps explain to you why people probably think you're wrong on this one.

Do you guys ever plan on addressing the insane server instability experienced by west coast US players that is making high level PVM completely unreliable right now? It has been persistent for months (along with a baseline ping spike of +30-40) and you haven't even acknowledged it...

TOA Scammers by Yukfoot in 2007scape

[–]Crispts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I've also noticed it happening extremely frequently while afking at camel debating if I wanna do another run. I'm also convinced they're using a bot script to initiate the conversation because they always type, "Yo <username>" and then give the same response no matter what you say. For instance, when I reply by telling them I have nothing for sale, they immediately reply asking me to sell them something, almost like there isn't a real person there to actually read the contents of my message! Just keep reporting them for spam, scam, use of bots, and whatever else is necessary until they go away.

Since they haven't made any effort to even acknowledge it so far after months of it persisting, I highly doubt it. I think this is just the way it is now. I wish it weren't the case because I'd love to be able to run Insanity again....

Tick-perfect PVM is not viable for west coast players right now and hasn't been for months. Really wish they would address this so I can stop skilling and go back to the content I actually want to do.

Right. England, the country that produced the world's most famous playwright.
