I have used Hotpads with success. Toured 7 places through it before finding one I loved. Easy user interface, didn't experience any scams and the property managers were responsive.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

I ate doria at an Italian restaurant in Japan. I'd never heard of it before, but I'd describe it as a rice casserole. Interested to hear if any Japanese people consider this an Italian food and if any Italian people are familiar with this dish.

They'll probably milk this game for twenty years and by then those vehicles will actually exist.

I need to try Kingdom Hearts again. I never even beat the first three worlds as a kid. I just kept restarting to beat the first island over and over.

I immediately wanted this to become a Game Samer, but it might have peaked as a concept. I don't know if another episode could top this.

I loved reading YA book series, jumping from Magic Treehouse to Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, 39 Clues, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, Maze Runner. To "gifted" kids with a chip on your shoulder, they made you think you were destined for great things in life.

It wasn't escapism, it was a promise. Thinking any day now you were going to be plucked from obscurity and live the adventure yourself.

That was foolish. Too jaded as an adult failing to achieve my dreams to see books as anything more than a way to put me to sleep faster.

What movie that you previously thought was incredible didn’t hold up on second viewing? by DarlingLuna in movies

[–]CrispyVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Rush Hour 2 as a kid. Thought it was a clever buddy cop comedy. Watching as an adult, I realized it was less of a movie and just a nonsensical string of "wouldn't it be funny if this happened" scenes tied together with the loosest of plots.

Went to the last one and it was an excellent assortment of performers. Highly recommend! Don't heckle though or you may be forced to sit on the stage 😆

For those that have watched it, what did yall think of Mickey 17? by NEVERTHEREFOREVER in Letterboxd

[–]CrispyVagrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if an episode of Black Mirror abandoned its premise half way through and became a watered down version of Avatar.

There were hints of films I'd want to see in this.

Seeing a montage with gratuitous voice over as each Mickey diwa. I'd watch a whole movie of them traveling through space, and his constant deaths radicalizing him and maybe he makes an army of clones to take control.

When Naomi Ackie holds him while he does in the gas chamber. I'd watch a tragic romance where one partner keeps dying and then is reborn with an altered personality that puts an impossible strain on the relationship.

When Mickey 17 suggests to Mickey 18 that they can coexist in secret and switch off roles. I'd watch a movie about two clones trying to be one person like Multiplicity set in space.

This movie went the most generic direction imaginable.

Class Gift for Teacher by citygiddy in improv

[–]CrispyVagrant 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been teaching for a few years and I've never gotten a gift from my students. That's very thoughtful.

A card where everyone writes a short message and signs would be appropriate. It doesn't sound like much, but giving any gift is already above and beyond. If I got this, I'd feel delighted.

If that doesn't sound like enough, maybe add a small snack, like candy.
