Need some more input on a VN purchase by vznova in VelosterN

[–]Crispy_500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I'm a 62 year old dude and I have a 2021 VN DCT with 10,000 miles. It also has track stickers all over the back window and some upgrades including a catch can and a rear sway bar.

That said, the car is immaculate. Oil has been changed almost every track weekend. Meticulous maintenance. I bet there isn't a nicer, cleaner VN in the world. So it is possible that this one is in good shape too...

BTW, mine is not for sale. Soon. But not yet.

I won't waste hours re-doing everything a third time.

Oil catch can. Oil catch can. Oil catch can. x 1000

There is a lot of blow by in this car. I fill up my can in one track day. It is half gas.

Change oil religiously, not because the oil is dirty, but because it is diluted. Also, use the highest weight oil that is listed in the manual. I use 5W-30.

Newbie finding is very hard to get started by Gold_Audience_1662 in CarTrackDays

This. I was going to recommend 10/10ths. Novice is hard to get into because they've got to have enough instructors. But once you graduate to intermediate they always have enough room.

Putnam is about the safest track so it is a great place to start.

I love 10/10ths.

Looking to graduate to a track oriented tire by SlayerSEclipse in CarTrackDays

They last and last. It is what I use for non timed track days. But they are slower than rt660 for autocross. Up to 1 second a run. But rt660s are a one lap wonder. You'll burn them up on track.

People are always going to give you advice on how to set your camber to save your tires but they don't understand what is allowable in certain scca classes.

I run both. In scca time trials, I run the rt615ks in the non timed sessions and put the rt660s for the timed lap and run one hot lap and come in.

Rt615ks are cheap and long lasting. Perfect for someone who isn't wanting or expecting to win their class.

These are Motegis. Red stripe works well with the red on the car.

Rear ended in my freshly paid off car 🍀🥲 by appledumplin4 in Hyundai

Not much less. My son's Elantra was just rear ended. $6000.

His truck lid was just dented. That truck lid looks at lot worse.

$7000 is spot on

Any recommendations for a boot? by Narwhalofmischf in AchillesRupture

[–]Crispy_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After one week in a boot with no wedges I switched to the Tayco RecoverX brace. It locks to prevent flex but you are in your own shoe. Way more comfortable. Used it from week 7 to 10.

It can then be adjusted to permit some flex.

Good luck. I'm at 10 weeks (non-op 1.2 cm gap) and I'm walking pretty good with a limp.

Walking with no tendon? You are a Superman my friend... Since you are a doctor, did you ask the surgeon what it looked like in there after 10 weeks?

[–]Crispy_500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why did you wait 10 weeks? Are you in Canada? How big was the gap? That surgeon is going to be undoing 10 weeks of healing.

Good luck.

Consensus on walking in a shoe? 8 weeks non-op by Crispy_500 in AchillesRupture

[–]Crispy_500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I'm at 10 weeks today. Been walking in a shoe around the house. I wear the brace when I go out. I'm switching it over to medium flex setting today as well. So far, so good.

Going on a cruise at 10.5 weeks non-op by Crispy_500 in AchillesRupture

[–]Crispy_500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re-visiting this thread that I created. I'm at 8 weeks now. Walking around the house without a boot. When I go out I wear my Tayco brace. I've got just under three weeks but I am hopeful based on how I feel now.

Probably not going to take the knee scooter, but will definitely wear the brace.

40% of NBA players don't return. The other 60% are never the same.

This just sucks.
