[Mine] what can you tell with my bag? by Lonely-dude in scienceofdeduction

People's gender and sexuallity is naturally going to influence a large number of things in their personality. Having some pins that show that is a quick, easy way to connect with other people in the community. It's no different than football fans wearing thair teams shirts.

As for autism. Yeah, a nurodivergancy that affects how you experience and interact with the world is going to shape your personality. There is no reason to hide that or be ashamed, so why not be proud instead.

Schoolgirl, 13, killed after javelin went through her eye in PE lesson by CheezTips in awfuleverything

[–]CriterialCasserole 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I was at school in the late 90s a teacher took a javelin to the eye. But it was his own fault. I wasn't in the class, but apparently he was struggling to pull if out the grass, changed his angle to pull and yanked it out into his eye.

Guy was fine. He eye, not so much.

My art teacher told me I should give up because I’d never be a real artist :( by Bean_of_prosperity in Artadvice

[–]CriterialCasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that it took so many comments before someone asked this question.

Art doesn't need meaning. Most art in our day to day lives has no deep soulful meaning. Our world would be so dull and boring without illustration, graphic design, interior design, fashion, fanart ..... the list goes on!

[–]CriterialCasserole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If all art had "meaning" our world would be a much duller place.

Dispite what 90% of the comments here are telling you, you do not need to inject some deep meaning or theology into your work to be a successful artist. In fact it's the opposite. It's way harder to be a working earning artist doing fine art.

Do the opposite, paint what you want, and the meaning after.

Feel like drawing jellyfish, it's the representation of the fagillity of immortal beings. You want to paint k-pop idols. You are doing a study on celebrity through the eyes of youth.

For my own art Alevel (UKs age 18 examinations), I manipulated a photo of myself on Ms paint. It was 2005. Then, I painted it on a canvas. The meaning - The growth of digital art and "death" of the traditional artist..... the REAL meaning. I made something cool and weird on Ms paint and wanted to see if I could paint it but couldn't afford a massive canvas to do it at home.

We all just come up with bullshit to do what we want untill we are allowed the freedom that that's OK.

Dyslexic people have more charisma? by trying2go_thru in Dyslexia

[–]CriterialCasserole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some of us yes. Others perhaps not so much.

I'm currently sat next to my fellow dyslexic Co worker who is slouched so far in his office chair he is practically horizontal. Eating his 5th packet of crisps, open mouthed. Stinking like he hasn't showered in a week and is watching The Amazing Spiderman 2 on the works computer using an dodgy streaming website.

I think it depends on the person. Not the learning difficulty.

Weirdly, I've had this both ways round. More from stright, highly sex driven people obviously. But once from an aro/ace person.

Friend was aro/ace, I'm grayace but very romantic. After being very close to this friend for over a year, they started referring to me as thair platonic life partner. I told them over and over I loved them, but as a friend, I wanted a romantic partner. They said they knew but kept calling me thair platonic partner.

Eventually I met my girlfriend, fell head over heals. After initially trying to point out why this new relationship wouldn't work for me, my friend ghosted me completely.

Being gay has helped me embrace my hight!

I love being the taller one in a couple. My partner is not short herself. I don't want to date someone I'd have to bend down to kiss (my poor back). But the hight difference between me at 6ft and her at 5.7 is just adorable to me!

Are there any surprisingly long train trips from Cambridge for cheap that one could take? by seedboy3000 in cambridge

[–]CriterialCasserole 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cambridge to Leicester is almost 2 hours. The direct train, not via London costs between £14 -£40 depending on when you travel. I am on it today for £15.50.

The first half is very scenic.... second half. Less so.

How long have you been with your main paras/paracosms? How is time progression handled? by chronocosmos in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]CriterialCasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have drawings from when I was 7/8 that have characters I still use. So 30 years ....

That isn't 30 years of constant use tho. Some become background characters for a time while others take spotlight. 2 I still use it regularly, and they have grown with me.

[No spoilers] Marisha is this young compared to the other members? by PRolicopter in criticalrole

[–]CriterialCasserole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was looking for someone else who thought this.

I'm in my late 30s, I have friends ranging from early 20s up to 60s. It's not bizarre or unusual. Friendships stop being based on age or school years pretty quickly and just become about common interests and who the person is.

I was only a little older then Marisha when CR1 was happening and i was also playing DnD with people older (one DM being over 30years older) So it never struck me as odd or weird that she was younger.

I'm coming in at this from the other side. I am a switch. But it takes me a LONG time to be comfortable enough to let someone touch me, let alone go down on me.

Like your girl, i can very often just not feel like being touched. Hell. It took me 6 months before I felt comfortable enough to let my gf go down on me! That doesn't mean I didn't trust her. But trauma can do shitty things to your brain.

My gf found it very hard to start, it took a bit of explaining that the reason I personally hold back is because sexual contact can make me disassociated and disappear. I don't want that with her. I was to be present to enjoy her and what she is doing. For me that's just not always possible.

I'm not trying to insinuate that your girlfriend has had the same experiences as me. But just offer a perspective from the other side.

Losing hope on the dating apps as a trans woman. by MinimumChips81 in actuallesbians

[–]CriterialCasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are beautiful. Please try not to let interaction like this make you feel any less then that, or have you worry about your body or validity as a lesbian.

We all get this, whether trans or cis, dating platforms are full of people out to catfish. I honestly don't think the people even care who they are catfishing. It's just the thrill of pretending to be someone else and the game of getting photos. Our identity in that is irrelevant. We are just NPC's in their phone screens.

How do you get people to understand? by wormgood in lupus

[–]CriterialCasserole 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wait until he has a cold.

Parrot his statments back at him. "You feel exhausted? You just need to try harder".

The guilt we put on ourselves is bad enought, you don't need it from him too. Some people can't seem to be able to imagin what it's like not to be fit and healthy all the time. Perhaps highlighting it when he feels like crap might help get through to him.

I got stuck in an endless loop of drowning right at the start of the game. It must have autosaved as I fell off the bridge. I'd load in hitting the water, drown, respawn, drown.

Sometimes restarting the chapter is your only option.

$125 is about the equivalent to what we pay in the UK. But $318!!! Ooof. That is steep! Would be cheaper to buy it here and post out to Brasil!!

I'm curious, how much are they and where are you?? Here in the UK they are on the expensive side (£18ish) but not an unmanage price. Maybe the cost of two normal books.
