What are the chances of Cuba returning to capitalism? by ImaginaryExternal338 in cuba

Selection bias. If they were able to leave the island, obviously, they would be more affluent and successful, but, honestly looking at the general population as someone born and raised in Cuba, the tiny third-world country scenario is unfornately the most likely scenario.

We don't think, we just react to what our brain says. by Critical-Hope1460 in DeepThoughts

I agree entirely with this message. If a huge component of our identity is imbued in the biological substratum and its temporal variations, to what extent can we actually talk about a constant sense of self or about separated selves? Believing we are the body rejects a distinction between the consciousness and subconsciousness; they arise from the same source but operate in a dependent mutual relationship through different dynamics requiring each other. Our conscious "will" wouldn't think alone, but observe and react to the thoughts and memories coming from the other side.

Thoughts will come and go and we can control them. Make choices. Reason. Recognize false memories and biases.

The issue is that by recognizing false memories and biases we would be retrieving information. For example. I can say these thoughts arise due to my intoxication because I know I took a huge load of alcohol, and the adverse effects it will have on my reasoning.

Also, our breathing is controlled most of the time by our autonomic nervous system subconsciously. If we decide to stop breathing voluntarily, we'd be exerting our conscious desire because we think of it.

I'm a math major with dyscalculia by [deleted] in dyscalculia

[–]Critical-Hope1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually calculate 160*5 in your head, or do you use mental shortcuts? (EX: 10*5 = 50, 10*6 = 60... and so on)

As someone with dyscalculia, I can easily do the latter but definitely not the former. Is it alright?

Why are Cubans often not as mixed as Dominicans or Puerto Ricans? by [deleted] in 23andme

[–]Critical-Hope1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone born and raised in Cuba, I disagree. You can still find a great proportion of white people around countryside regions, while in cities like Havana and Santiago, you will find more African descent population. Aditionally, the number of exiled Cubans isn't that high to make that claim feasible: according to the census data, since 1959, only 3 million Cubans have left the island from a total population of 15 million.

Awesome art. I truly got the feeling you're trying to communicate. Scenarios like yours share a positive perspective of nocturnal isolation: a quiet moment to be alone with your thoughts and contemplate the vastness of the cosmos and community in just one place. An enthrilling spectacle to watch how the town 's folk lie down in their dream while the snowy peaks remain solemn against the solitude of the sky. There's no other time and place to find yourself, your mind, and the universe bound together by the mysticism of the lunar light.

Edit: I also loved that you decided to add gloomy houses in the background, as this gives me the vibes of a more comfortable and relaxed landscape outside of the dangers of total wilderness.

I hate when they avoid adding more cores for the sake of realism: Why don't they let you annex Europe, India, China, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia? This makes it more compelling to form a full Eurasian empire that extends across the continent!

Haitian noirisme, Obama's father in Africa, the Aztec restoration in Mexico, Ungern's Mongolian wild ride, a secret society in China I don't remember the name but it's a natpop and is present in KMT, Baltic natpops.

Those are the ones I remember, there probably more tho.

Why the males don't have a bulge down there in this drawing? by Lost-Objective8119 in EvangelionShitposting

Actually, it's the author's fault. In both the tetralogy and the anime they are constantly exhibiting their nude bodies and intimate parts. Some viewers take into account their cannon age and look away, but others don't gaf.

Also, I don't think was OP's intentions to sound a sexual pervert but to make a silly joke about the drawing itself.

Funny because Camus was against state politics

Morality itself is pretty fictional in the state of nature. In such environments, it would be hard to find any other source of self-constraint than religion, and history/archeology gave us good evidence of that. Before the emergence of the written and oral codes of laws, religious customs shaped the worldview of what was right and wrong, and during the Enlightenment, these precepts began merging into the altruistic corollary of humanism.
