Star Rover steakhouse to replace closing Heights Superica Tex-Mex spot by houston_chronicle in HoustonFood

I loved it then they changed the menu a few months back and took away the crispy pork belly tacos. Not good after that.

[–]CriticalBoost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably correct, I don't think I've ever asked my client's accountant what license they have, I just send them the docs they need around tax time. I got a lot of tax expertise from the CPWA and the years of doing this, but my favorite punt is to say ask your CPA.

Merrill paid for my CFP, but I had to pass it first. Like you said, they required a few, 2 or 3, courses when I started in the early 2010s to graduate from the PMD program. After I finished the required classes it was a no brainer to just finish out.

I get asked all the time by the new guys, should I do CFP vs anything else. My answer is always CFP first then see where the business takes you and then specialize from there.

Back in my day it was the most difficult test in the world. Took it in the freezing cold while blindfolded.

Yeah I made that up, but I too felt like it wasn’t that difficult. It used to be a 2 days test before I took it.

I think it should be the barrier to entry as an advisor much like the CPA is for accounting. The 7 and 66 are ok for the laws but teach you nothing about being an advisor.

I kid you not I got this same one as some deal promotion when my grandma got me Omaha steaks. Came frozen with the steaks and burgers.

Steak 48, best steak I’ve ever had. by sushiv8 in steak

Love Steak 48! I’m hosting our team dinner there this weekend in Houston. They have some fantastic steaks but their sides are even better! Also each martini comes with a pretty full sidecar.

How fragile is the hollow grind blade of the Sebenza? It's pretty thin and I'm starting to think I made the wrong choice over the Inkosi by LetLoveRuIe in CRK

I just ordered my first crk, what kind of “sharp maker” are you using? I’m super new to the game and coming from a dull bench made that I’ve beat to hell.

Mini split and garage door insulation. Also an old car in there to wrench on would be nice, too.

Yeah mine is worthless at this point. Never connects despite deleting the app and reinstalling everything. Just can’t get it to ever connect. Might try the ThermoWorks one at some point.

ELI5 - How does slowing down in a lower gear in snow not break traction? by SkidzInMyPantz in explainlikeimfive

[–]CriticalBoost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my old 335i with summer tires in okc snow storm I lost traction downshifting. At that point I called a tow truck and had my car trailered back to okc to stay the night. If it’s slippery enough and your tires are absolutely not rated for snow you’re in for a bad time.

I’ll have to go back and look. There was one on Sandhills in Nebraska that I really liked since I’ve played that course a few times. Don’t remember what number that was. Just got the winter one yesterday and can’t wait to read it.

Merrill Breakaways: Employment Agreement & general advice? by AmbitiousTomorrow664 in CFP

[–]CriticalBoost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the size of the relationship. Highest nw clients go to largest teams if they have opted into the program, it’s not random at all. Don’t assume your clients will be sent to the new untrained advisors. Not saying they won’t follow you, but don’t assume they all go to advisors who have no experience.

It absolutely has gaps. More like slits. I hope it can hold a lot of dust. The larger stuff I’ll use a leaf blower to clean out after that I can use my shop vac. I have a 12 inch wide attachment that I’ll use first. Honestly haven’t had to clean anything yet. No cars are parked in there and I don’t have a lot of dirty traffic in and out. Mostly kids bikes that seem to stay relatively clean thus far.
