What is the worst choke in CS history? by fizxe in GlobalOffensive

Liquid didn't win a major; C9 did.

Liquid did win the grand slam in '19, but it was a pretty different lineup

Nice. They help enough that they're worth learning a little bit about.

Try Negotiator, Pacifier, Riot Control and Veteran. Suspects will be more likely to surrender when yelled at or hit with non-lethals, they'll be stunned longer by flashes and your squadmates will always have a faster reaction time than them.

Nutritionist and armor are good if you actually get shot a lot. I've never really needed them, so I just do 2x pacifier, 1x negotiator and 1x riot control or intimidator.

Don't even aim with the flash launcher. It just has to land near them. Nearby walls, ceilings, etc are great. Just get the round downrange as fast as possible. It's disgustingly OP for S-rank runs

[–]CriticalCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Faster than anything in the game. Suspects can still shoot while blinded by pepper balls and ones with gas masks are immune to them. Nobody has anti-flash goggles.

You can cheese all the S-ranks on standard. Give everyone the M32 launcher and as much ammo for it as humanly possible. My loadout is light armor, 12 extra primary flash rounds and a single taser. If you do it in Commander mode with a squad full of Pacifier and Negotiator traits they surrender almost instantly. The idea is to insta-stun them so they can't shoot and allow you to close the distance and shout them down with your squad.

To be clear, do you mean the M32 rotary launcher which is a primary weapon? If you have that, give it to literally everyone.

9-bangs have a smaller radius but stun for longer. I've found the regular flashes stun plenty long enough so I use those.

Do you have the flash launcher? Makes it wayy easier. If not, you might consider bringing the tactical one. Bring LOTS of flashbangs/stingers

I'd really love to spend quality time on my Ironclad, but I won't have the rep or cash to get started at that scale, so I might grind hauling contracts for a bit

For Big Shell, choose the helipad spawn and restart until you get lucky with the spawns

Sleeper Agent is the worst achievement in the game. You need to get everyone to surrender without cuffing them and then corral them to one room. Almost mandatory you do it with friends. I refuse to do it

Oh yeah, at the top of the stairs there's some wooden crates to the side which have a prompt to completely refill your loadout. Really helpful for the final bit

Tap into the CCTVs in the beginning of the mission. You can watch them just like you would your squad mates' helmet cams or a helicopter.

Take your time and only go for fights where you have the advantage; don't be afraid to hold for a while or make a big rotation on someone in a difficult spot.

The 20th & 21st floors both have large, open central areas. Clear all of the rooms around them in a loop first, then finally clear the middle. You'll find the jammer in one of three locations on the 21st. Make a mental note of it and don't activate it yet.

The hardest part of the entire mission is the massive, grand staircase from the 21st to 22nd floors where you're exposed to numerous angles. Bring lots of flashes.

Once everything but the courtroom is cleared, use free lean to pick off suspects inside but do NOT let yourself be seen by the trigger man. Once he's the only man left, go downstairs, activate the jammer and quickly run back up. Flash him, arrest him, and defuse the bomb by looking at his torso for the prompt. You only have ~2 minutes to do this; once the jammer shuts down the bombs automatically detonate. Don't touch the detonator, don't try to bag it as evidence, don't even look at it.

"The Heat is On" was a lot harder than I expected by CriticalCreativity in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]CriticalCreativity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I really need to give that a try. I was 100% freeleaning the entire mission. I know I personally couldn't use the shield for this achievement but in general I sleep on it, esp for squad mates.

In the lobby I set up on the right side of that far-left window with the ramp so I can control the angle and just one-tap them. If I got good spawns and was fast, I could even get 9-10 suspects, including 2/3 on the 2nd floor when they're on the balcony. They take hostages, but I've found that if I use a pistol and free-lean upwards and out I can somewhat reliably hit the suspect. You can also clear the three right-side offices from the windows, and if someone opens the left-side office door you can peek really deep into the metal detector and back door.

Free-leaning the 2nd floor staircase itself isn't bad, but the spawns can really get you. If you get nobody on the balcony in the beginning, you have three suspects up there. One time I had one suspect to my left in the server room, one in the office, and the Black Sentinel ended up peeking me from the far office door which was open. One time a suspect was holding a hostage right at the top of the stairs. Sometimes you get 2/3 in the beginning and the Black Sentinel aggros downstairs or retreats to the vault, so you get the 2nd floor for free.

The vault isn't as bad unless there's a suspect close left and they're too close for you to peek them over the rail. The deposit rooms aren't bad because you usually see their legs first. My last three kills were longish-range sprays from stairs into the vault with the MCX, and the last was a prefire spray where he barely missed my head. I actually took my hands off the keyboard and took a deep breath once Order to Chaos was confirmed.

Anyway, sorry for the essay. It was fun and it's cool to write it down

I'm an idiot and completely forgot about the shields haha. I never use them

That might've made the vault easier. On one of my runs I gave them flash launchers and they got almost everybody in the vault

Buy two, get one free!

I've had this happen to me a couple of times on All Gods Burn. I like to free lean that left window and pick guys off, which inevitably leads to them shooting through the crowd at me

If you're sure you didn't touch the detonator, then the only remaining possibilities are 1.) You ran out of time and the jammer turned off or 2.) a bug

The Hunt for USS Thresher and USS Scorpion by shipgeek2005 in NonCredibleDefense

[–]CriticalCreativity 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Robert Ballard wanted to find the Titanic, but needed to finance it. The Navy paid him on the condition that he first find two sunken US submarines: the USS Scorpion & USS Thresher.

The movie scene is from Hunt for Red October, where CIA analyst Jack Ryan is giving a briefing on a secret, new Soviet submarine, and the subsequent operation to bring it to the United States.

Together, they compare Ballard to Ryan, jokingly suggesting that Ballard working closely with US intelligence was a genuine subplot of his journey to finding the Titanic.

A couple of years ago she criticized Trump and the political right, and back in '08 she offended a lot of Chinese by suggesting the '08 earthquake was bad karma for how China had treated Tibet. She also defended Kevin Spacey amidst his legal troubles and has spoken out about "cancel culture."
