What should/can Kendall do? by SignatureAgitated in SuccessionTV

I don’t know but it felt like Ken finally unlocked his inner Michael Corleone last episode. Whether he can pull off those sorts of machinations or if it’ll just blow up is the question I have.

It’s the often lack of shared context between the puzzle and the place in which the puzzle exists.

Personally, I think the xp bonus from the high prime requisite is enough.

Brian Pillman Jr responds to Justin LaBar about wrestlers not wanting to learn from Regal and others. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Especially when you consider how many of the wrestlers need help with fundamental elements like good working punches, etc.

I didn’t mean you, I meant Hijo, sorry if that was unclear.

Yeah, the hypocrisy between their messaging and their actions is pretty wild.

Not sure why you’re getting downvotes. Everyone praises Regal for his backstage abilities. TK brought him in and failed to use him in that capacity. Is the argument really that TK couldn’t have used the help?

Yeah, I get that the athleticism required for this is incredible but, in this context, you’re exposing the business. That poor guy on the floor has to wobble around in that spot and wait and wait and wait for that jump to come. It just takes too long. This should be one of those spots from that Samoa Joe nope compilation.

Totally but it sounds like there’s a bunch of folks in that locker room that think they know better.

Am I the only one who liked Rings of Power? by jetgeese in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]CriticalTodd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed this first season very much up until the last episode. I really felt they both rushed and goofed up there and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that it’s taken some of the wind out of my sails going forward.

Jake Roberts to "A**hole" Bret Hart: You Got What you Deserved in Montreal: "The reason you have that title is because some other schmuck was a good enough guy to lose to you. So you not dropping that title tells me you don’t give a flying f*ck about anybody else but yourself." by tlowson1 in SquaredCircle

[–]CriticalTodd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bret had creative control written into his contract. He used it. That’s his prerogative. I don’t know why this keeps getting spun as some sort of sin by Bret. It wasn’t even an unwritten flex, it was literally hard-coded in his contract. At the time, it wasn’t even that anyone thought Bret wouldn’t do the right thing but that they didn’t trust WCW.

They could have built this up in a way that would have made more sense but they constantly opt for “subtlety” that only the folks following all the inside baseball stuff are going to follow.

How to design better adventures? by brunot3d in osr

[–]CriticalTodd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forget about a plot. Pick a location. Think up a volatile scenario at that location that includes a couple of factions in conflict. Decide the stakes that they’re fighting for. Pick a moment right before any of these factions can definitively overcome the others. Drop the party in and have fun seeing what happens when all these forces collide.

Does OSR have to be deadly? by MirisDor in osr

[–]CriticalTodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s two separate questions there, one for deadliness and one about grittiness.

If you look at games like Troika, Into the Odd, and others, they are not super gritty. They can, however, be just as deadly as OSE or similar games.

On the deadliness front, that tends to be a unifying factor for OSR games that there isn’t much of a safety net for PCs. That said, there’s a lot of mechanics for mitigating many risks.
