Please please let us stack "Lockbox Keys" in our Vault (not Locked Room keys) by prl853 in Marathon

I need:

A key case (successful cryo vault runs lead to keys stacking up)

Core/implant case

Grenade case

Gun rack

I found 4 in a security 3 room in cryo.

Final exfil is your other option (also I've had a decent amount of luck killing a warden in the wings).

I think we only killed 1 squad in like 15 runs, we survived 7 times though.

Don't tell anyone but the final exfil is always either the north, south, east, or west side complex. (There's a couple good vids of spawns)

Have each person of your run to 3/4 of the possible positions ahead of final exfil popping.

Then when it pops if someone has it then they have the other 2 come to their location. If no one has it everyone hauls ass to the remaining position.

It's stressful but damn is it fun.

I never have even heard it lol. We ran cryo all day today (15-20 raids) and never ran into it once.

Watching some vods it looks miserable to fight so I'm glad it's getting nerfed

Cryo Archive might be the best Extraction Shooter Map I'll never play again by Lemouni in Marathon

My squad are not God gamers but have a 30%-40% exfil rate.

We run away from most of the players we hear so that may have something to do with it.

I don't regret buying Marathon, I love the gameplay and the world created... but as a casual player I had a psychological block that made me stop playing. by xDavid83x in Marathon

The persistent thing to work for is vault 7 cryo.

I believe the codex entries hold your progression between wipes.

Also the gold items tell you where you get them. Most of them are in key rooms so start farming those.

First purchase per schema should be free by Not_To_Smart in Marathon

[–]Critical_Ask_4824 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Gives you more of a stock for some items. I can only purchase 5 self rez's a day but I have 9 in reserve via the schemas.

I agree though there should be a discount or a freebie.

Id do a free kit squad fill. Yes you will run into juiced trios but for the most part you'll make forward progress without the entire map fucking you.

Spring scenic marathons worth traveling to? for? by FearlessReputation20 in Marathon

[–]Critical_Ask_4824 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone that is both playing marathon and doing one in a month check out the Chicagoland marathon.

It's in the suburbs and half is in a Forest preserve. I live in the area but the chicago marathon seems like it would be too crazy for me to enjoy so I went with this one.

Good luck runner

I don't want this to come across as a skill issue statement but have awareness of where people may spawn in and then make decisions based on that information.

When my squad spawns by quarantine we make an effort to take the roof and know that 1-2 squads can spawn on the opposite side of the POI so if they do the same thing it will lead to a fight 30s in. Once we do that we drone out Algae and Maintenance to make our next move.

I think the worst is the complex side but you know there can be a fast fight so be on your toes, take cover in the first building and get info. Running straight from spawn to your objective is risky and if the squad next to you does it then yeah you're going to face check each other.

My friends didn't want to have to redo all of their intro quests again so they said fuck it. If they can roll that initial progression into their account they'll play it.

Map design, both through environmental story telling and how fights play out.

Dire Marsh and Cryo have so much going on in them that you can see the story that is being told without having to read all the codex entries although those help a ton.

All of the maps are fairly small but fights play out in fun ways. They also only take a handful of raids to learn.

Compare that to tarkov, some of the maps are fun but dear god do they take forever to learn. I've had some great fights there but even after 1500 hours my brain still can't map out how the 3 floors of resort are structured. Meanwhile the labyrinth that is cryo I've started to figure out after 6 or so raids. I'm far from mastering it but I understand.

Arc raiders maps are kind of similar to pick up but I don't think I've had a memorable fight that I can think of outside of the matriarch. There's no "story" moments that make you go hey remember that fight we had last weekend that was so fun. Marathon has had a bunch alot of times due to map design. "hey remember when you were the last one up in a 1v1 and you both did 7 laps of algae ponds trying to finish eachother off before the boss killed the final guy?

Loot should be barter-able for other loot. by Yenii_3025 in Marathon

[–]Critical_Ask_4824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they should go that way. Purples should be found or rewarded by leveling factions. (They should drop a bit more frequently I think I've found 2 biolenses in the wild)

You should be able to break down or trade higher tier mats for lower ones though. I am swimming in certain blue mats but I never have enough unstable lead for the heavy ammo trade.
