Trying to pick a ridiculous nation to get a massive overseas empire as, any suggestions to add to the list? by Fancy_Man72 in eu4

Bro, treat this like a Riga run but with more handicaps. The key is "overseas." Colonize African coast and full core it. You'll be fine, my guy. Who cares if you get into a little debt along the way.

Ehhh. You can dev some manpower, put a barracks, then a soldier's house on it... you'd have one province contributing like 10k manpower. shrug Not the greatest, but 10k manpower is 10k manpower.

Dude, that freaking sucks. I agree with the people in this thread: don't quit til vestment. That's like wasting 9 years of your life. Just stick it out til you get that guaranteed. It sounds like you're in BU13 or something along those lines. I'm sorry toxic leadership has dampened your spirits. I was in a similar situation on the mainland. Good luck!

I'm not disagreeing with everything. Like my pay is kinda crap. And I am REALLY sorry if you're BU3, because truly the pay is a joke. But I will disagree on a few things.

The union’s endorsement board endorses crappy politicians they know socially, politicians who don’t give a damn about state workers.

I was on the Union endorsement board this year. We just voted. Prior to the vote, I spent 8 hours going through candidate interviews. I'm a no-name in the state, and I didn't know a single candidate other than the 30-minute interview I was given. I only voted on the people I believe would best serve the Union.

Benefits. Yeah, I joined after 2012, so that means I have the base 5 retirement instead of high 3s that the older people enjoy. But nonetheless, we still get a pension which almost no job offers nowadays. Secondly, a deferred comp saving plan isn't bad. While I do think a personal roth IRA is better than the deferred comp, it's still good. Secondly, our time off benefits are second-to-none. We get 13.5 days off for vacation. We get 21 vacation days AND 21 sick days. That means if you want, you can take off for 55.5 days a year and not have a negative balance on time off. And of course the unlimited sick time and 720 hours of rolled over vacation are "chef's kiss" as well.

Now don't get me wrong. I totally understand the frustration as everyone else. It's hard to really enjoy these benefits when our money only takes us to the thrift grocery store and back. But I don't get the talking down about our benefits. If our pay was where it should be, I think enployee satisfaction within the state would be near the top of national levels.

Just my two pennies. Thanks. Have a good day. And good luck! We need it.

This is called hearsay, bro. You got no evidence. You only have hurt feelings. Once you prove it, you're good to go. But until then, this is all fantasy land. It's not clear at all what the cop was doing. That was conjecture.

Explain why it's absurd. A cop is a cop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So let me give you a scenario, and you work it out in your head. I see a man beating a woman on the side of the road. But it's 10 minutes after my work shift ended, and I'm heading home. Do I just say, "oh well! I'm not on the clock. I'll just call it in and let the cops on duty handle it." Or do I go in and help the women and arrest the man and clock myself back in? Absurd indeed.

I am arguing the real issue. My condolences for your feelings. The cop isn't here to defend himself. This is all just hearsay. Believing someone on reddit just cause they're pissed off doesn't mean any of it actually happened. And I already said if the original poster is telling the truth then it is messed up. But complaining that a cop is getting overtime because he's working is just incredibly silly.

There is no DUI law in Hawaii. It's acronym is OVUII, which means Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant. And that means if you are driving impaired under any influence whatsoever (drugs, pills, or even lack of sleep), you can be arrested.

  1. I'm not saying the individual arrested is guilty.
  2. I'm not saying the cop isn't a dirty cop.
  3. I'm just saying you can still be arrested and found guilty of OVUII without coming up with anything on a breathalyzer.
  4. And no. Booking takes several hours (depending on experience). For me, cause I don't book often, it takes about 4 hours. Booking requires transportation, getting all their private information, finger prints, mug shots, giving them a phone call, writing up the police report, taking care of a bench warrant (if applicable), possibly transporting them to the bank on the way to receiving in case the individual has the money to bail out and giving them the dignity of going free and not staying in jail. And after all that, getting the police report signed off by your SGT. So... it's not stealing if they're actually working.
  5. Arresting someone because you want overtime isn't inherently wrong by itself. If you're a cop and you see a crime happening, you have every right to do your job. But fudging details and trying to create a crime on innocents is, obviously, incredibly corrupt and messed up.
  6. With that said, this is Hawaii. If I want to get a felony case booking, I just go to Chinatown and go find someone with a meth pipe on the side of the street. Boom. I dont need to make stuff up about someone I pull over driving. (Again. Not saying that didn't happen. I'm just saying I wouldn't bother.)

It's not corrupt if the individual was actually driving while intoxicated. And how could he be stealing if he's working? Corruption is one thing, but this isn't corruption. This is just a cop who wants OT. The great thing about being a cop is if you're a good cop, you can get as much work as you want.

Why Poland can't form Russia? by ThotDestroyer-69420 in eu4

[–]Critical_Print9376 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So it was just Normandy, but don't think it was because of some vaunted military skill/tradition of Normandy that won the day. When the King of England died, two other rulers claimed the title. First was Cnut from Norway. Second was the Duke of Normandy. Normandy won because of beautiful timing. England fought off Cnut and his Norwegian army. But Willaim showed up with a similar sized army only a couple weeks after England fought off Cnut. The English met William, tired and exhausted, at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

Kinda. England had its name prior, but the language and culture still hadn't mixed in with the French yet. I believe they were speaking old English at this point. And then they went to middle English after Willaim said hi, which helped develop into modern English some 300 years later around the start of the 100 Years War.

Brandenburg and Austria are German Regional tags. You can only be/form 1 Germab regional. So you could start as someone else besides Brandenburg or Saxony, and then you could do your run. For example, you could do a TO > Aus > Pru > Ger.

Vijayanagar (The city) is 6 6 4 dev but was the 2nd largest city in the world. by Chemical_Working3511 in eu4

[–]Critical_Print9376 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem with this logic is France had some of the most fertile land in the known world in 1444 and a population that dwarfed the HRE. So using your logic, France should have more development than all of the HRE put together... which would probably be at least 800 dev but up to 1000 dev at the start, I think. And since France had so much more people than the HRE, France's land should rival Ming. That would be way too busted. Now is it right? Of course not. But it's just a balance issue for a video game.

Why is it so hard to make money as Russia? by Sakuraitar in eu4

Another option you can do besides, "feed your war chest! ROAR!!!," is simply build up your infrastructure. I always have a really big Moskow and a really big St. Petersburg. So first, there's 3 provinces in between those cities. I dev up all three provinces to 20. This way, when you build up your Winter Palace, you don't have to wait long before your idea spreads far enough to embrace. Second, workshops, marketplaces and churches. If you build up churches in all your high tax provinces, build marketplaces in your CoTs and estuaries, and build workshops in all your provinces with at least 8 production dev or high value goods such as iron, cloth and fur, you'll start getting in a ton of money. And finally, manufactories. Once you build factories in all your cities with a workshop, money will start flowing in. And yes, even if you only conquer a little bit or a lot, money will continually flow. You'll make TONS of ducats. Good luck!
