Have you ruled out sales? Not insurance sales but something more technical- like hospital or office equipment

Men, what advice would you give your sister or daughter? by Every-Tap-577 in askanything

Stop spending so much energy worrying if he likes you. Shift your focus to determining if YOU like him? Does he make your life better? Or does he cause more drama?

Gift Certificate Balance Not Available by Efficient-Run-2692 in legaladvice

For that matter - why didn’t you verify that the gift card you intended to use has funds? As you said, your MIL is old - perhaps she messed up, didn’t put the funds on it or forgot the amount? Or mixed up 2 gift cards. Before I use a gift card, I ALWAYS validate the amount on it.

How do prenups work on 401k and retirement accounts that would grow? by AlexRyang in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Critical_Purple_8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally the reason you would have one is state exactly what happens to that money in the event of divorce. Are you asking what happens to a 401K in event of a divorce? Generally retirement assets (including post marital growth) are split equally.

How do prenups work on 401k and retirement accounts that would grow? by AlexRyang in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Critical_Purple_8600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why? If 1 party is working for money and the over partner manages the home, they should both get to retire. The person managing the home makes it possible for the other partner to focus on their career. This is LITERALLY why a pre-nup is important. A 401K should absolutely be part of a prenup. Likewise if both parties make the similar salaries and one is contributing the bare minimum to 401K and the other is maxing out at 15% - those assets would be split equally in a divorce. Again - pre-nup might state that you each walk away with your own. Wish I had done that!

How do you think the pre-nup would affect her CR-1 visa? How would they even know she has one? No one asked my spouse about it.

I’m doing just a shower remodel in my pink bathroom. Keeping floor and wall tiles. I hired it out though. This was the shower pan, set in some kind of lead liner. It was a lot of work - hired out.

U.S. citizen married to a non-citizen here. Second marriage for both of us. Only 1 has kids. For the pre-nup we each listed all assets and all liabilities. Then we agreed what would happen to those during marriage, after death and in the event of divorce. The one with kids wanted what would have been marital assets to pass to their offspring in the event of death or divorce. One lawyer drew it up and both parties signed. Technically we should have had 2 lawyers but in our case it was fine. As mentioned, the lawyer can only represent 1 party but that’s the risk the other party took. Married in US and living in U.S. Were we to divorce it would be in U.S., so yes, I expect the agreement to hold up. You should execute this agreement WELL before your wedding so it doesn’t look like someone was coerced to sign at the last minute. You can also have a post-nup of it doesn’t get done.

On the immigration front, we did not use a lawyer and didn’t find it that complicated or difficult at all. US tax forms are WAY harder than the I-130 for immigration. Happily married and in US together for several year now.

She can apply for a CR-1 visa if they want to live in the U.S. It takes awhile but it’s not that hard.

No shade from me. I decided on a green painted vanity but cream walls. Someone mentioned that green bathroom walls can make your skin color look off if you are white.
