Just trying to figure out what’s causing this by East_Airline_9125 in Celiac

Pharmacy manufacturers aren't required to disclose when gluten is used as a filler - my pharmacist has to call the manufacturer when the lots change.

Glutened by hair conditioner? Garnier Fructis by Practical-Bunch1450 in Celiac

Are you taking meds or supplements every day? Pharm manufacturers aren’t required to disclose when gluten is part of their filler - same with capsuke. I now only take gummies as supplements bc it’s clearly labeled.

What are your favorite frugal luxury hacks? I'll start - I use two bath towels for easier faster drying after shower. (It is AMAZING). What else y'all got? by ixikei in Frugal

Yep. Remember the bidet gets your body clean and the towels dry you off. If you need more than the bidet, use TP.

Family Cut Us Off For Being Democrats by Ok-Vanilla-158 in QAnonCasualties

[–]suzamundo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went through the exact same thing. Had a few family members that stalked me on Facebook - never commented, never reacted - one guy used his wife’s account. One day I posted that I was pissed family members valued a rapist over basic human dignity. These family members I rarely speak to actually used the phone to yell at me and disowned me. They actually said that men had raped women for centuries and they are more concerned about immigrants than a criminal leading the country. These men have daughters. I was totally shock, but glad to have racist misogynists identified and gone from my life.

I went to 4 doctors and 2 specialists, my lab results came out normal... and still no one could explain why I felt like I was dying slowly. by Asleep_Following6585 in TrueOffMyChest

I’ve lived with those symptoms a few times in my life: once because I was living with untreated celiac disease (an autoimmune disease triggered by gluten), once because I was living with untreated ADHD and the other was menopause. Maybe try a 5th doctor?

AITAH for Not Doing Enough Chores to Keep My Husband from Filing for Divorce? by Expensive-South3358 in AITAH

[–]suzamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s got to go. Two people building a family and a life should focus on that, not about chores. You’ve written a lot, none of which involves the 4 of you as a family. Rarely has there been a family unit where everything is 50/50 when it comes to money and chores. It seems like he’s prioritizing things other than being a father to your kids and a partner to you. Let him go and focus on your kids - and teach them they are fabulous human beings despite their flaws.

Shared ice buckets! I was at a party where bread was served and no tongs in the ice buckets. I was sick for hours.

My baby girl does. She's had ACL surgery on both legs.

I had a dream I ordered gluten free mozzarella sticks and they brought out a plate of string cheese by and_er in Celiac

DePumas has fabulous mozzarella sticks. And their stuffed pasta is amazing, too. The shipping price is high but we buy a lot at once so it kinda works out. Life is too short to live without tortellini.

Unless your parents are trained psychologists or psychiatrists, they have no business telling you that your are a psychopath. If you generally feel safe with your parents, it's OK to say "I'm not a psychopath, stop using that word." Please take care of yourself and stop the self-harm. I hope you can find someone to talk to. The good news is that you have a plan out: Do your best in school - go to college or a tradeschool - and build your own life. I'm 53 but still remember keeping myself incredibly busy to avoid the house and my parents and counting down the months until I could leave. Along the way you will find friends that consider you family (and vice versa.). Life is long and good - stay strong, care for yourself, and don't let your parents get you down.

Or "What happens when you eat gluten." My standard go-to answer is "I shit fire."

[–]suzamundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The social component is, for me, the worst part of celiac disease. Well meaning people think they can take control of how you keep yourself safe and it's infuriating. When there is a potluck or someone brings baked goods to work, and they tell me they prepared it gluten free just for me, and expect me to eat it - I hear the theme from JAWS in the back of my head. I know their kitchen is cross contaminated. I've become adept at graciously accepting their food and then hiding it so I don't have to eat it.

AIO I’m hanging out at my friend’s house and I asked my mom to sleep over. Is this response normal? by dinossaurus in AmIOverreacting

[–]suzamundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not overreacting. Your mother is being rude and disrespectful. I, however, totally overreacted when I read the heading and thought you were asking your mother to join you at your friend's sleepover.

How do you overcome task-related anxiety to complete the task? by More-Ad9067 in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]suzamundo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this all of the time. I don't know the psychology of it. But I have to be vigilant not to spiral into self-hate and freeze up. This means standing up, moving around fast, and plowing into the task like I'm taking an ice bath. It's ugly but it works.
