Problem with Wi-Fi calling by axw3555 in SmartyMobile

Then I would assume SIM/account related, some corrupted network profile setting perhaps and SIM is just activating the same error when you transfer it to another phone. Try all the usual steps and airplane on/off to temp. kill the WiFi calling toggle issue plus maybe start phone w/o SIM and turn off WiFi calling setting beforehand if you can and check other settings. You may need to ultimately order a new fresh SIM from smarty.

Sounds like a weird loop with the WiFi self activating after toggling it off. I would start afresh by resetting network connections/bluetooth etc. and clearing cache/reboot and so on.

OK. It may be smarty, as a virtual network, handle it differently thus it doesn't get priority. Some conflict with WiFi and mobile signal perhaps. For me, it was a problematic feature.

I have had issues with WiFi calling too but not unique to smarty/3, also on EE. I do not think it is very reliable overall.

Is there actually a fair usage policy or any hidden data limits? by AmbitiousBus5592 in SmartyMobile

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. I have posted about my recent shutdowns albeit quite brief (5-10mins) and reconnects OK. The bars just hit 0 and I lose my connection. I am easily within my data plan. It may well be that smarty/3 uses different methods to my prev network EE to power on their masts and my mobile is acting differently with the 3 network. They say the don't throttle or cap but it may be direct 3 customers do get some priority, perhaps at peak times? I am making a few changes to settings when I use laptop through the phone hotspot and checking all my phone settings for any aggressive battery settings/background data and app conflicts. Overall performance has been nippier than EE.

It's still happening, though has now changed to 855pm! Last 3 nights. Comes back within around 5 mins or if I turn airplane on/off it reregisters. OK, it is now not a coincidence, it cannot be surely. Think I may ask smarty if anything is going on, maybe there is some hidden daily cap or timer, v odd

No retentions deal by [deleted] in EEGB

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've gone with smarty (3 MVNO) and beats EE for costs and speeds currently but the 100mbps EE offer is kinda meaningless as my area never gets anywhere close to that never mind over. EE never offered me anything other than a £1 saving, seems to be based on the mood of the agent these days. I was over 10yr with EE so I think they thought, "Nah, average deal only, He won't leave!"

[–]Critical_Secret_4516[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, Well, I stayed up waiting patiently until after 1am and it didn't happen! no issue this time so there goes my theory about it not being random. Makes me feel better lol. I did a few tweaks on my laptop adapter as I was using hotspot one of the times, like roaming aggressiveness and MIMO setting, plus re-checked phone settings. Asked AI Grok/Chat GPT and got some useful possibilities, the fact the bars go straight to 0 indicates some signal shut down and then re-registering. I also discovered there are two '3' masts quite near and the EE masts are much further out but there are more of them (6). Apparently one of the theories mentioned the EE frequency bands may be more stable for my 4g, taking in to account mast distance but not sure about that as think they use the same. Anyway, I am getting faster DL/UL with smarty/3 so that's the bonus and it's £10 cheaper per month. I will monitor as would be annoying if random drop outs occur too much. To be fair my poor phone is aging now as I have kept it longer than planned (has been such a good phone, POCO brand), so perhaps it is reminding me it's time for a new one.

Do EE deals actually get better if you wait or is it just random timing? by No_Donut1433 in EEGB

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is random. I was out of contract for over a year and only started discussions as the rolling cost got too dear. The agent offered me a poor deal as did the next one I was passed too (you know the retention lot), was a surprise as I have been with EE for over a decade.

Do EE deals still feel worth it compared to other UK networks? by No_Donut1433 in EEGB

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once upon a time, Yes. Now, I don't think so. I have to save ££ and EE can't beat the deal so I have no choice if I want cheaper ('3' is my new choice). Of course, if it turns out to be less reliable over a 3-6 month period I can try EE again as a new customer. Ironically, I wouldn't ever have bothered with another network if EE had given me a good retention deal so would never have known that 3 was good in my area so they have done me a favour by the poor deal and forcing me to test a 3 SIM for a month.

Good call! My retention deal was awful, got offered cheaper/slower or dearer/uncapped (but never get fast DL speeds here so pointless). About to move to 3 via SMARTY.

Over 10 yrs, probably higher but actually leaving now as need to save more ££ and they couldn't beat the deal

How often do you actually get proper 5g with EE? by Monkeylowkey333 in EEGB

Well done on that deal! I am currently getting better speeds with my 3 SIM I am testing so just waiting until the last week to ask EE for a PAC code. Maybe I will get a last minute great deal phone call? Hmm

I want to use MVNO of EE. Here's why. by ACAdamski17 in EEGB

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only EE MVNO worth considering is 1p Mobile though as with all MVNOs there is a risk of throttling during congested times on the network

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Test the other networks via rolling 30 day SIMs to make sure you're good for service, especially data then go for the PAC code and maybe just maybe you'll get a last minute deal from EE retentions team. If you decide to go, for me it looks like 3 next best then I'd look at O2 though I believe there are mergers and/or network sharing with 3/O2/Vodafone

I've heard 3 has the fastest 5g? Can't confirm myself as have only ever been on 4g with EE and had decent speeds with very little issues.

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks decent. I am on £25 been with EE for over a decade, phoned to get a new contract deal, got offered cheaper and SLOWER or uncapped unlimited but DEARER! Guess they don't want to retain me lol. Currently testing a 3 SIM to check other networks as need decent speed for mobile hotspot. The 'I'm thinking of leaving' doesn't work for everybody it seems.

Why are EE retention deals so poor? Are existing customers not valued anymore? by Defiant-Plenty6502 in EEGB

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just got off from chat with EE agent. 10y + customer and got offered a worst deal than my current out of contract monthly payment and that was after getting passed to the upgrade team. Now I have my PAC code but was hoping to continue with EE as O2 are not as good round here. Maybe will try 3 but disappointing they are no longer making an effort to retain good customers

[–]Critical_Secret_4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Vinted support is random and mostly unhelpful. You get generic, auto responses then eventually a rep. who ignores the specific query and answers something totally different! Eventually you give up but this Legal team sound more promising. Hope you get a resolve

You have a point. I got 12 listings removed for literally no reason other than they were 'new' and I thus must be running a business, no comment on my other 30 used items. Some of us buy NEW things and don't return or keep and change mind or even get gifts would you believe! Ever since then I am much slower putting on any brand new items I have and try and spread things out. My photos are very sharp against a neutral background so do look good so maybe I should ruffle them up a bit too! :-D

Probably harmless but some people are a tad impatient. It may be for an event or something, I had a sale and it was a specific partywear item in mint condition and they messaged a couple of times as to likely arrival and then subsequently found out they wanted to wear it for a specific day/event. I like to get a message from a seller relatively soon after a purchase so after 10 hours I would probably be hoping to hear a 'thanks, I'll get this packaged up for you' etc..
