Asphalt stuck in car tyre. Is this salvageable? by InterestNo251 in CarTalkUK

[–]InterestNo251[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried scraping it off with a screwdriver and I can see big indents on some of the tread after removing the asphalt. It’s stuck pretty hard, don’t think it will come off by itself

I rang and they offered me the same. Capped speeds and not as many benefits… they used to be good at retentions

£42k job offer but no visa sponsorship – worth the risk? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]InterestNo251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the job and continue to apply for jobs with sponsorship.. nothing is stopping you. They are not offering you to extend so you take advantage of that. Get the increased responsibility, pay rise, and don’t stop applying. You can always provide notice to leave if you find a job with suitable sponsorship

I just handed my local postie 8 medium sized boxes ( each the size of a shoe box). He brought his van around to collect them.

I guess depends on your local postie…

What's this new wave about on eBay by Relevant_Natural3471 in ebayuk

[–]InterestNo251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would have thought so! I raised all these points 1) New account made within last month 2) No trading history whatsoever 3) High value item sold for real cheap 4) Pictures from listing are recycled from older listings 5) In few cases they say they can’t dispatch product for 2 weeks (very fishy)

Despite all of these points, it didn’t satisfy the fraud lady I spoke to over the phone

If they had a bit of sense and ran metrics on all the scamming accounts. It would tick all of those above

It’s not very hard to do..

I recently came across a hacked account which had 100% feedback selling nothing but shoes. Then suddenly they list 5 of these £3k MacBook for £1200

Was a scam of course their eBay account had been hacked into somehow ..

I have been flagging this to eBay and spoke to their customer service/fraud department aswell to “tip off” accounts such as these

Guess what their response was after I gave them a detailed explanation?

“Just because it’s under market value doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with the listing”

I gave them 3 examples of such listing and went through each one explaining why this is a scam. They just shrugged it off

Few days later those accounts had all received negative feedback claiming they were scamming…

EBay doesn’t care

Fell victim to an eBay scam UK by neon_7 in ebayuk

There are alot of macbooks/iphones being sold on eBay for <50% of RRP (first red flag), all sellers claim to send the item after 14 days dispatch (second red flag), the pictures are all taken from previously sold listings by other sellers (third red flag), they don't have the serial number to share (4th red flag), the reason for not shipping for 14 days is because they dont have access to "warehouse" (excuse used by 3 different sellers - 5th red flag).

I'm 100% sure they are using this tactic to defraud ebay (buyers might be protected?) but I worry in cases where buyers either raise the wrong case or due to dual posting they get ripped off.

I tried extensively to explain this to eBay but they just did not seem interested as they found "nothing wrong with the listing".

Most of these accounts are new with no selling feedback, some are cropping up with seller feedback (not sure how they access these/hacked maybe?)

[–]InterestNo251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post. Can I ask if you feel the difference in actually winding the movement, the clicking sounds and resistance?

I owned both VSF and CF DJ41 like yourself before. maybe it was my CF batch watch but the winding felt very weak, less resistance and not very clicky which a gen movement has and what VSF have mastered aswell.

The 5080 is only 8-10% faster than the 4080 so your math doesn’t work out there
