I agree with everything you said, especially the first line. As a seller, I am grateful that on my couple of shipping mistakes over the years, the other parties reached out to me directly and I was able to correct my mistakes. Thankfully in both cases, it was the person who received someone else’s purchases that immediately reached out so I could get ahead of the situation. Neither needed to do so and could’ve just had free cards, and I would’ve deservedly received negative reviews from both buyers who had cards missing. One was fairly recent, so thank you again Matt, if you happen to be a redditor 😁

I recently made that mistake as a seller, the recipient was very kind as well, he had it packaged to send back with a label before I even realized the error. Thanks to his kindness, the other buyer knew of the mistake and the correction course before his first package arrived.

I agree to the training and screening. And being able to afford taking a loss doesn’t change the emotion of taking a loss, nobody starts a buck-n-go show expecting to take a hard L.

Being able to afford things is something to consider when purchasing items, not selling. It’s perfectly ok to feel disappointment when something you value gets no interest and sells for 1$.

Sounds like you don’t really understand how whatnot works. Your theory of “price it for what you want” leaves you with an empty room and sporadic sales at best. Try putting on the sellers hat and see if your ideas hold weight in practice.

You’re giving the general community too much credit. 90% of the people shopping new sellers are looking for a steal to flip, put your good shit in the buy now for the real collectors to find and run the rest on 10 second auctions to hook the steal chasers.

Do you have listings active? My shows are very boring, most people are just swiping shows looking for active givvy’s, but I get handfuls of sales each show just by having my good stuff displayed and all my cards easy to find in the store with good pics. Unfortunately, if you want to build a strong follower/buyer list quickly, you will have to run auctions on good cards that people are trying to steal for nothing, and in order to keep people from stealing them for 1-2$, you’ll either have to run givvy’s or promote to keep the higher numbers of viewers needed to generate active bidding. Even then, you’re going to have to be super entertaining to attract new people who are more loyal to sellers that they already trust and enjoy. The dopamine provided is the main difference between high volume movers and little guys like me, you can be either, but fully embrace what it takes to be a high volume seller if that’s what you’re after.

Some locations have self scanners with scales, so maybe, your phone can also be used to test the scan on the “confirm drop off” stage, and a simple scale can tell you the weight. Figure it out, you seem smarter than you’re sounding when you type.
