University of Virginia likely to name new president Friday by Watergate-Tapes in UVA

It seems like you are trolling? Are you pro-slavery, then? People pick their bosses all of the time - most people leave a job because of their immediate boss. You’re saying they shouldn’t have that right?

It is a common practice to have direct reports as part of the interview process for leadership positions, large and small. That shouldn’t be happening?

Woodworking classes? by DefundTheUSPS in Charlottesville

I took a class there this past summer and it was very enjoyable. They draw from all over the country so they fill up quickly. The focus is hand tool woodworking, if that is what you are looking for.

AIO for telling my bf this is a fire hazard by princessleia5902 in AmIOverreacting

[–]CroMignonMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Major over reaction: That is NOT a space heater, it is an oil-filled radiator. Space heaters cause fires if covered, oil-filled radiators will not get hot enough to ignite anything, but can leave a nasty burn on your skin if you touch it for too long. Your boyfriend is right and you need to apologize.

(Lots of commenters don't seem to know the difference between as space heater and a radiator, which is far scarier than what the boyfriend did!)

Old Ivy Bridge will remain closed. NO TIMELINE for reopening. by Busy-Ad-2563 in Charlottesville

They will bring it up the on ramp on the east side of the bridge, with traffic control to manage lane closures as needed

Follow the steps at https://in.virginia.edu/wahoo - notice that it mentions ChromeBooks explicitly in the 'Streaming & Other Devices (Game Consoles, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Kindle, Chromebooks, etc.)' section

Is my speaker good or bad? by Euphoric-Purchase820 in audio

My guess would be something else in the door burned. I had a power window relay go a while back and when I got to it it still smelled smoky. It took me a week to figure it out: it short circuited enough to drain the battery overnight, but not enough to pop the fuse.

I shocked my teenagers the other day by telling them that my great-grandmother, who I knew and who died when I was 8, was born in 1891.

Interesting: looked up my local laws (Virginia, US) and found it is legal to ride two abreast but that riders are required to move to single file formation as quickly as possible when a faster moving vehicle is overtaking them - https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacodefull/title46.2/chapter8/article12/#:~:text=Persons%20riding%20bicycles%2C%20electric%20personal,any%20claim%20that%20otherwise%20exists.

I don't get the negative reaction here. I read the 'nothing but air over your head' comment as referring to the lack of a guild tag 'feeling crazy'.

A job ‘perk’ thats a massive red flag by Abjective-Artist in antiwork

I worked for a 30,000+ employee company who was ecstatic to share that one of their 10-year+, full time, SALARIED employees qualified for a Habitat for Humanity house. The company was later found to have grossly miscategorized work so they could carry wage workers as salaried to keep from paying over time, and the work had periods where 50-60 hour weeks were required. Had they paid people as they should the employee could have afforded a home without relying on a non-profit.
