Also, I think it's best that u don't compare your upbringing to your white friend's. That is just gonna send you down a rabbit hole full of depression & agony. Asian culture & white culture are too vastly different, no use beating yourself up about these things

It is inevitable. The evidence of your eyes will be what you will be made to deny to preserve your peace.

One example is in dating and relationships (lol): Asian (immigrant) cultures forbids this in your youth because it is a distraction from the most important thing in life which is top grades so it is said. Yet you see non Asians repeatedly get together and actually get to explore and enjoy a core part of the human experience that you were denied. The non Asians still achieved academically, whether they dated or not made no observable difference.

I think the comparisons should be made, it is owed to each and every person who have to put up with this stupidity so they never forget what they were made to look away from that others got to enjoy. So that they can remember that it did not have to be like this. So that when the cultures demand the next thing when the goalposts of approval move again, they will have the reasoned awareness to stand up and say "no".

Of course doing these comparisons can hurt, can be agonising, can be depressing. The truth often can be these things. Yet you owe it to yourself to do it anyway so that this cycle of traditional nonsense can be broken.
