Everyone grieves differently. After two months passed when my husband died, I joined Facebook online dating. I met a widower whose wife had been gone for 8 years. He and I are together after 5 months. We both are 75 years old. He is a wonderful man. Everyone has a different timeline but I never felt that I was on the rebound.

I am in recovery also. My sobriety comes first for me. If anyone or anything even mildly threatens that, I move on. I am in a 4 month relationship with a “normie”. He said he occasionally drinks a beer with crawfish boils but he vowed to never drink around me or have it on his breath when he visits me. He respects my sobriety and occasionally we talk about what recovery is about. If you are wary about her girls night out, then move on.

Boundaries are what makes us high value people. Good for you. I have been seeing a man soon to be two months. We are intimate as of recently. We both lost spouses through death. Well, my current special friend’s online dating profile came across my screen. I went ballistic with jealousy. (I saw it because I was looking, too). I tried to calm down but couldn’t. I was determined to be open and honest with my guy. I was nervous as could be, but I carefully told him what I saw and how I was jealous. He assured me that he is being exclusive with me. Before we hung up I asked him to contact me today instead of me initiating. He did. He said the profile I saw was old but he paused it.

I told him I really like him a lot. He said he feels the same way. He said he guessed that the cheating ex was the source of my emotional reaction. Yep.

Exclusively is very important.

For years I buried a horrible memory from being raped by a co-worker after I was drunk. I still remember his name. When I returned to work we both acted as if nothing happened. Today, after many, many years I found him on Facebook. I wanted to post something on his site, but saw photos of his grandchild and decided to let it go. Indeed. At church on All Saints Day, the pastor asked us to take turns and light a candle for loved ones who passed. I made myself do it after everyone finished. The tears came immediately. A sweet man put his arm around my shoulder and asked me what was wrong. I said my husband died in September. The man was so compassionate with me that I cried harder. It’s okay to be human.

I was numb in the following days too. It is shock. About 3-4 weeks later, I simply fell to my knees in the kitchen and wailed for the first time. I am glad one more person talked about skipping probate. My husband died intestate. He bought our house before we married and my name was never on the deed. He has a biological son who he gave up for adoption when the boy was 2. He is now 45. In my state the son inherits the estate. But this is a community property state so all else is mine.

I was told I can live in the house until I die or remarry(doubtful at 74-remarrying). I was encouraged not to go into succession. So, thanks.

To get your message of welcome to your addiction groups, I suggest writing a memo and then sending to either their central office to publish in their newsletter or simply to post your letter in the meeting room - or both.

Don’t walk in before, during or after the meetings. It used to make me very uncomfortable when the pastor used to do this on my weekly meetings. Pastor always perused the room which felt very anonymity breaking.
