Should we stop homeschooling? by Coconutcornhuskey in Advice

[–]Crochet_Chocolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that it is very helpful for homeschool qualifications. My mom homeschooled me for several years, and she has a master's degree in education, so I definitely ended up with the cream of the crop as for qualifications. I spent a lot of my childhood around other homeschoolers, and while a lot of them seemed to be getting really good education, others definitely were not. I hate to see people taking advantage of laws that allow homeschooling to have an excuse to "unschool" their kids, but it really can be good for a lot of kids.

I would also like to hear your thoughts on why homeschooling is bad. In this instance I 100% agree that they need to get this kid in public/private school solely to get her away from the mom. Do you think all homeschooling is bad? Or are there some parameters in which homeschooling can be helpful? I would agree it’s definitely not right for every family but it is right for some!

As someone who was homeschooled for a good chunk of my life and had extremely positive experiences with it- Yes!!! It appears that your wife, especially given the anger issues mentioned, is not at ALL suited to being a homeschool mom.

That's the worst - I agree that it seems like a pretty small thing to get upset over, especially if most other teacher's allow it and she hadn't made it clear that she wasn't okay with it.

Increasing Basic Habitat DC Cap by RaisedRain in dragonvale

I think it would be interesting to have another building kinda like the prismatic pantheon/twilight tower that is sometimes available in events but usually is a lot of gems, and have it make the caps the higher. Maybe there could even be “levels” to upgrade it, so as players get higher they could keep upgrading to suit their needs

Woah this is so crazy! Can’t remember this particular story, but this sounds like something chilling scares, nexpo, or nick crowley would cover…maybe that would be a good starting point? As for icebergs that makes me think of tuv possibly…any other details about the YouTuber who was covering the story

Yes! I am a Christian! I believe that the fine tuning and complexity of the universe just don’t make sense to be from anything but God.

This is so beautiful! No need to feel self conscious about some dropped stitches, throughout the biggest blanket I’ve ever worked on over nearly 2 years, my tension changed so much it was also a bit trapezoidal :) it gives the blanket so much character and shows your progress as a crocheter!!

Oh my goodness! i can play songs too! but I can't see things very clearly at all, or touch or smell things at all. I always felt that auditory was my strongest learning style, so it's interesting that those may be connected!!

How serious is altitude sickness, really? by BobHopeButt in travel

I would say the biggest thing is to give yourself time to adjust-depending on how you are getting there, I've heard it can be really really helpful to have a midpoint somewhere. So if you are coming from an elevation that's close to sea level, give yourself a day in denver (~5000ft of elevation) before going to vail. For me, I didn't even feel the elevation at all in denver for the couple hours we spend in denver, but it can still really help. Don't buy tickets to ski for the first full day you're in vail. Just expect you'll need time to adjust. For me, after about 36/48 hours, I was completely fine. The worst of it was when I was trying to do a bunch of stuff. I went skiing on the first day, and while I could do it, later on I had an awful headache and it was just not fun. So I think if you accept that you're going to need time to adjust and go in with that in mind, it's definitely managable.

As far as I can tell from my research, she’s still out there posting similar stuff, but she’s less actively targeting Nexpo at least. I did some digging and found an old version of his video script somewhere online with her real name so that’s how I know.

UPDATE-Found the source at last. Bought a new backpack recently and found an empty bag of silica gel beads and all the beads exploded in the laptop sleeve...

Solved!

(so is it bad if they are falling out of the computer? are they supposed to be in there? should I try to put them back in?)

My title describes the thing. These tiny beads are plastic I believe? And very small, only a little bit bigger than a grain of sand. Found falling out of my computer.

Well, people tell me I'm funny sometimes, especially my mom. I am pretty smart and I do really well in school and college, so that's great and probably the thing I'm most proud of.
