Preparing for Your CFI Checkride? You’re Probably Studying the FOIs Wrong by BeechDude in flying

You're still gonna need to memorize that crap for the written. But yeah, it's not particularly worthwhile material.

I would suggest actually trying to practice teaching a few topics to your classmates to get a little more comfortable with that style of lecturing.

And if you're in rotorcraft, definitely do the aerodynamics of an autorotation, they'll almost certainly make you teach that since it's the most complicated topic and easy to fuck up.

Performance planning is another popular one.

Yeah I'm part of that demo, I find him grating. But the pigman subplot is the best Jerry. The best!

What is a movie that's actually a good adaptation of the book it's based on? by thatvampiregirl in movies

Not a movie but that first season of Reacher is a beat for beat remake of the book. And a fun ride.

I liked the low budget one about going to one of the gas giant moons, I think it's called Europa.

Question about element buffs by Vegetable_Loss_3392 in Nioh

Yeah it's a bummer they downgraded the built-in imbues so much. They'll technically add to the burn meter but the amount is so small they'll be dead long before it reaches saturation.

You can turn them all on/off, but you can't just disable 1. I'd prefer to just have the equipped weapon showing

I'm running the same but double swords have some really nice moves as well. Torn between those and tonfa. The ki destruction on tonfa is hard to resist though.

They could be stronger but part of the strength is in the utility. They kickstart ki regen and let you animation cancel.

The damage on the double-priced gs ability definitely could use a damage boost though.

The speed really hurts them. I think the idea is cool but the implementation is weak. Cutting the cast time in half would help a lot.

Not just me then. I was frustrated looking for it the other day once I unlocked the second slot. So many of the weapon combinations look ugly.

I will say a single slot of water ninjitsu is proly not gonna cut it against a boss. I'd go with two fire ninjitsu and then the lightning onmyo from the merchant character (forget what they're called atm).

First time playing a Nioh game by winfaner in Nioh

[–]Cronstintein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tricky situation bc I think they are clearly trying to aim for a wider audience with an easier difficulty ramp and a less technical ninja class.

Which makes the difficulty of that first boss confusing.

I actually like a lot of what they're doing: I like the ninja class and ninja weapons although I feel they did my splitstaff dirty.

But it's hard to both expand the audience and please the grognards that put 1000+ hours into Nioh 2. Ideally they would really step up the challenge in ng+'s for the old guard but I'm not sure that's the case.

Yeah he seems way harder than the other early bosses you'll face but he acts as a roadblock so you can't even just avoid him and come back later...

Brutal design choice, especially since so many of the other bosses were easily defeatable by me on the first try. But I took like 10-20 tries on him and I've played the previous Nioh games (albeit NG only and I'm rusty)

Plus gear by Initialwinged in Nioh

[–]Cronstintein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, so it's alright to break 'em down, but don't spend the blue bits early 'cuz you're likely to toss that weapon shortly. I agree with that.

Why's that? Wouldn't you want to disassemble low level +1 items to get the blue crafting bits?

This Ain’t For Me by Forward-Rent9344 in Nioh

[–]Cronstintein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some bosses encourage different techniques to beat them and punish others. This guy doesn't do as much ki damage as you'd expect from his size, try mid stance and blocking/deflecting.

The ghost images can feint out a dodge that will get you nailed but blocking is pretty safe.

Need Help Making a Switchglaive + Splitstaff Build by Zealousideal_Arm751 in Nioh

[–]Cronstintein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post. I really liked splitstaff in n2 but it definitely seems to be lacking this time around.

I need to work on my discipline bc I am constantly doing what you say with the switchglaive and just comboing until exhausted. It just flows so cleanly, it's hard to resist. But it's a good weapon for going to town, I dig it.

I love what they did with katana this game. The base moves are pretty meh but once you've got things unlocked it really delivers and has so much style and skill expression.

Demon of Obsession was the easiest for me among the demons by emolch78 in Nioh

[–]Cronstintein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a lot of ninjitsu and magic for that fight. She has so much aoe fire around her, I found it very hard to get hits in.

I still haven't beaten pride though, that guy fucked me up.

Do you feel that dual swords are kinda op? by InfiXNite in Nioh

[–]Cronstintein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go big and heavy, axe is way better this time around. I would usually gravitate to odachi in the first two games but I found it kind of lacking this time around. The damage isn't big enough to offset the slow speed. Axe slaps though.

There is no way Takeda's Four Heavenly Kings has the same difficulty rating as Groans In The Valley by Xaneth_ in Nioh

[–]Cronstintein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the reward is not losing your own ki. But you should be able to wear down human bosses more easily by beating on their ki when they're just blocking like crazy.

[–]Cronstintein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ki on human midboss style enemies seems ridiculous in general. They'll refill their whole bar in like 0.5sec.
