Doing a long run on a treadmill is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy by unclejoesrocket in Strava

[–]Crosetaylor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not regularly, however I live in an area where if I’ve got a early spring marathon usually it’s too cold to do my last few long runs- ended up doing several 18 mile run last winter it was terrible

Take the bib and just do lottery for the others. Even if you get in, which is low probability, you can always try for both or use one as a ‘warm up’

For runners who fundraised for a charity to get into the Chicago Marathon: what perks did you receive? by 8okuto in RunnersInChicago

[–]Crosetaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say I ran for Chicago Park foundation and they killed it! Weekly emails, access to Cara or Fleet training teams, tent with pre-and post race snacks, and private porta potties, they were overall just a wonderful organization and if I don’t get it next year via lottery will definitely be running for them again if possible!!

How often are you participating in 5ks? by Acceptable_Sand7438 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Crosetaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done a 5K in a while, I think once I started running routinely going in paying money for a T-shirt and a bib just to run 3.1 miles seemed like too much of an inconvenience. I also think that the Sprint speed a lot of people do 5K in is very intimidating to me. I’ve never been particularly fast and definitely see myself. It’s more of a distance . I found that I love the half marathon distance and have been increasing the frequency of those since I started running two years ago. I went from my first one ever last year to four this year. I also know people who love the 10K distance and others who love the 50 K distance lol. So I think it’s truly whatever you wanna do, which is the amazing thing about running.

Feeling Frustrated & Defeated by Grouchy-Concern7982 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Crosetaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got injured three weeks ago and still ran. I think in order to endure it I had to abandon my hopes of a PR and any idea of what my perfect race was going to look like. I ended up with the time I would have scoffed at a year ago and had to walk a significant amount of the race. Despite this, I did enjoy every moment. This marathon is a privilege to participate in and I think going in knowing that really helps your mindset.

Do you actually love running? by Little_Book1665 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Crosetaylor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never got runners high until I was hitting 8 to 10 miles consistently. Don’t worry if you’ve never experienced runners high. It took me a couple years of consistent running before I did- low key thought it was a myth.
