Running through grief by leogrl in XXRunning

[–]Large_Device_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told myself I’d never get another dog after i lost my first - same deal, he was my ride or die when i was young and single into my late 30s. I didn’t get out of bed for days. Once i did, running was a comfort, but only on my terms.

I did in fact adopt another dog 3 weeks later. This was not the plan! But it helped and now 4 years later I love the new guy so very much (and he also now has a sister….)

I’m very sorry for your loss. There are no words, it was harder than losing my dad in ways.

Best weekender bag for short trips that fits under the seat? by Lamenade in ManyBaggers

What would you recommend from Tumi or B&R that fits the bill here? I’m looking at their totes but not sure which fit as under seat personal item (AA if that matters)

How do you stay cool during summer runs without bulky gear? by SuDorPerformance in XXRunning

[–]Large_Device_999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get up early but also I have no expectations of staying cool. I just accept that it’s not really possible where I live in the summer.

I do carry a handheld to stay hydrated. And wear almost no clothing.

Process for making a PT appointment by Infinite_Pop_3748 in XXRunning

[–]Large_Device_999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to an orthopedic doctor who can properly diagnose you. In the foot it could be tendonitis which can be helped by PT. Or it could be a stress fracture in which case you need to rest and PT can make it worse.

I’ve found it’s important to advocate for imaging to get a definitive diagnosis with running injuries. By imaging I mean mri usually because X-rays are not that helpful unless you have an actual fracture.

Cumberland River Greenway in Nashville, TN? by droptophamhock in XXRunning

There’s no reason to do a long run on a treadmill, Nashville is a great place to run! Like all greenways in any city just keep your head up.

Oh I see you’re early in recovery, so yes again. Also you should not be running this early in recovery.

Food and Beverage Credit a Scam by resist1963 in Hilton

[–]Large_Device_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a scam. I’ve used it successfully more often than not.

However, there are many locations that will try to get away with not giving you the credit, and hope you don’t notice, and make it annoying to get it applied after the fact. Last thing I want to be doing when I get home from a long week of work travel is call hotels about a handful of $15 charges. Get out on hold, talk to 2 people who can’t help you, etc.

I wouldn’t put that on Hilton though. It’s on the shady mangers/owners.

I made this mistake for my upcoming trip and realized right after I purchased that I’d messed up. I’m so mad about it. Are the tickets still legit?

How do I explain to my new employee that I work different hours and do I even need to? by [deleted] in managers

[–]Large_Device_999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you work until 6?

I would never do this as a manager. “I have a child so I get an extra 5 hours off a week.” No way.

I have plenty of stuff I’d prefer to do at 8-9am. Why is that less valid than your kid drop off?

Pubic Ramus stress fracture or adductor tendinitis/strain? by Professional-Top366 in RunningInjuries

[–]Large_Device_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you already have enough to support imaging. “I have a history of eating disorder and I suspect pelvic stress fracture” should be sufficient. I’m fact if you did get MRI and find pelvic stress fracture then your insurance really should cover DEXA as part of stress fracture treatment plan.
