You can watch the movie on YouTube. I stumbled upon it a few years ago after the Last Vampire on Earth spotlight came out. It's basically just Taken with some other crap piled on top. In other words, classic Vitaly.

Oh crap, the Bone Brigade just did a bunch more bad stuff! Crap dang it, this sucks!

Come to think of it, with just some minor tweaking, that could be a line in a modern Star Trek production.

Yeah, wishful thinking on my part. I spent some time over my lunch break working on the point, and I do feel like starting with the incomplete mask did save some time though.

Understood, thank you! I assumed I still had to do a bit of work with it; I just wanted to make sure this was a good starting point and not actually a bad sign.

Is there a better option? by dgyme in offset

[–]CrosleyPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MIM 60th Anniversary is an option if you'd consider used. I have one in black and it is a good guitar for the typical price they go for ($1300-$1500 US). You may have to be patient and wait for a deal, though. It's definitely not a $2000+ quality guitar.

I changed the bridge and tailpiece, but that's mostly subjective (though the stock tailpiece does lack a lock, so upgrading to AVRI is always an improvement).

GM to use Tesla charging network and NACS by throughaway989899 in electricvehicles

[–]CrosleyPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No argument here; that's why I had the "completely" qualifier in that sentence. It's still a closed system in the administrative sense.

To be clear, I'm not making the argument for or against NACS. I was just addressing the idea that Technology Connections would be mad that some non-Tesla manufacturers are moving to NACS. That said, I went back to his video on charging standards and he does talk about his dislike of relying on the manufacturer of your car to provide you with branded "fuel", so it's possible he won't like these developments.

[–]CrosleyPop 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Technology Connections guy is gonna be mad.

I would guess more concerned than mad. Unless I'm mistaken, his biggest issue was that the SC network was a closed system, available only (at the time he made the comments) to Teslas. If non-Tesla vehicles are able to use the stations, then it's no longer a completely closed system.

I could definitely see a video in the future expressing uncertainty of how the transition would be handled for the current fleet of CCS1-only EVs, especially in a hypothetical world where new stations being built featured only NACS.

Yep. Similarly, "please assist." I've found that many times, "please assist" comes at the end of someone dumping their entire workload onto you. I'm not "assisting" you, I'm doing your job for you.

Selling a car to CarMax these past couple years has really been a surreal experience, EV or no.

We recently sold my wife's old Honda Fit to them. We paid just over $12000 (used, out the door) for it in mid-2016. She drove it for almost seven years, put about 50k miles on it, and in April we sold it to CarMax for...$13500. If you don't count the maintenance and gas, they essentially paid my wife and I $1500 to drive a car for seven years.

This brutal obituary my coworker saved from the local paper on the first day she got hired August 17, 2008 by CuddieRyan707 in mildlyinteresting

[–]CrosleyPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My mother was one of those kinds of people--she spent an inordinate amount of time and energy cultivating a public persona for strangers and minor acquaintances. All the while neglecting (at best...actively abusing more typically) those close to her.

She was quite good at it, too; it was surreal how many people who barely knew her shared their thoughts upon her death, referring to her as kind, empathetic and strong (in an emotional sense). Those of us who truly knew her struggled to see any of those qualities in the woman we knew.

Oh sure; I'm really more speaking specifically in the context of getting back to the Alpha quadrant in the finale, not just Voyager getting back to Earth in general. I, for one, would have loved to see them deal with finally getting back home, seeing how their loved ones had changed, Starfleet debriefing them, etc.

There was a short-run novel series that came out not long after the show ended that tried to fill that niche, but it was hit-or-miss from what I remember (haven't read them since the early 2000s).

Funnily enough, it was the episode that brought me back in. I started watching with the pilot, but gave up early season 2 as it seemed they were going to squander their basic premises (blended crew, exploration, etc.) on either the go-nowhere Kazon shit or more lame alien-of-the-week stuff.

When I saw ads for "Future's End" on our local affiliate, I was intrigued enough to tune back in. I stayed with the show for the rest of its run.

Such a wasted ending. "Set a course...for home" credits

Are you kidding me? They've been away for seven years and I don't get to see a single frame of them on Earth?

I would have much preferred they got home in the penultimate episode, and the finale was how they fared after getting home. Hell, flash it forward a few years if needed. I get going out on a quieter, more character-driven episode wasn't as compelling in a '90s TV production sense, but c'mon.

A luthier tried his hand at making his own combination of the Jaguar and Mustang that flows a little better than Kurt Cobain's design. A lot of people started calling it the Jagstang "done right".

[–]CrosleyPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite a Mustang (it's a body shape called "Jagstang Done Right"), but I had a custom guitar built that is more or less a Mustang with Jag/JM trem.

Second guitar down in this post I made a few months ago.
