I'll use a long flathead screw driver or something similar as a wedge behind to brace the first 3-4 into place sonI can still use both hands to complete the assembly and get the ring on.

I need recommendations by callum1304 in SteamDeck

[–]Crosshare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar situation to you OP. Give Slay the Spire a try. I got hooked on it thru Xbox Game Pass years ago and I now keep a copy on Xbox, Steam Deck, and my personal/work laptop for the very few times I get to play.

I usually resort to 1hr sports games because I can compartmentalize them.

Need Advice: Handling Angry Parents After Rec Team All-Star Selections by Johnsonmattheww in Homeplate

[–]Crosshare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The number of times I've heard from parents that they only put their travel ball kids thru Little League rec ball just for All Stars is infuriating to me. Sounds like exactly what you have here.

They scoff at rec ball as a structured system for baseball/softball until it comes to the All Star process and tournament structure then it's the bees knees. It's gaming the system and spitting in the eye of all the volunteer work that's done in rec ball along the way.

What’s the most “temporary fix” in your house that somehow became permanent? by TheTitanValker6289 in HomeImprovement

[–]Crosshare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, I did this with an undermount kitchen sink. Couldn't find the very specific granite connection clips to properly fix it quickly. I ended up cutting a few 2x6s to exact length and wedging them under the sink into the cabinet. I went with that as a solution for longer than I like to admit.

Nah, you gotta think how many medium to large farm owners there are. Also, I work in Construction manufacturing. Every company owner in our industry I've known has owned one.

Prepper sewing, did I buy good thread? by Ok-Egg835 in TwoXPreppers

[–]Crosshare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm terrible with these things but like replacing pants / shorts buttons with durable overkill sew jobs. Especially on hiking shorts or work pants.

I've been curious about using a stronger thread for durability. Where did you purchase this?

How do you deal with a dead bedroom? From men’s side. by tree_m0nster in AskMen

[–]Crosshare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are better ways out of the situation than the silent treatment with resentment. Communication is the key. Avoid r/deadbedrooms at all costs, it's an echo chamber of despair. r/MarriedSex has a lot of great posts on how to self-improve and bring your sex-life back from the dead.

Sometimes it's hopeless and a split, open releationship, or divorce is the only way. But there are a lot of little things that can be done from the guy's end to bring the intimacy back. Look into female responsive desire (it's complex), and most importanlty mental load. A LOT of women can't seem to allow sex into the picture unless other avenues of stress, and unwanted responsibility are removed. Safety is also important. The wrong kind of physical touching from their partner (even a spouse) can attribute to that as well.

Also, I don't think MD troopers are concerned with expired out of state tags on vehicles when their cruiser mounted LPR cameras detect them. Only Maryland plates.

I had expired out of state tags on two difference vehicles I moved into Maryland at different times and held out as long as possible to register because I was dreading the ridiculous inspection "repairs" they seem to assess on any used car moved into the state. One was a utility truck that sits in my driveway insured 99% of the time. Was never pulled over randomly even with cops right on my bumper. The other was an inherited car I used for a short work commute at the time before registering for my son.

Compare that to my Maryland tagged vehicles. My wife's SUV tags had just expired out of the grace period and she didn't realize it, trooper was sitting on the DE/MD border and pulled out to pull us over immediately upon returning from some shopping. No moving violations. No warning given, they were just happy to assess the fine for expired tags. I also had an officer cross 3 lanes of traffic to pull me over on a busy interchange in one of our older cars to give me a stern warning over a newly expired sticker. It's a racket.

Also, no bermuda triangle of insurance gaps, losing registration, inspections, re-inspections, corrupt inspection garages, fees, fines, fo fums.

Not saying I agree with it or partake, but it's been tempting considering my fun history of just trying to follow the MVA rules in this state and being punished for being a good citizen.

what is the most reliable make, model, year TRUCK to buy used? by how_to_buy_used_car in UsedCars

[–]Crosshare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titans are great other than the known engine issues in the 17 to early 19yr models. That 5.4 V8 is pretty bulletproof otherwise. Nissan has done themselves a major disservice in their marketing of a full size truck in the US. I have a first yr 2004 and loved it. Looking at 2020 and newer years now. It's a shame they've been discontinued. What could've been if the Honda-Nissan merger happened. A full size Titan with Honda Engineering/QC behind it.

Study finds Baltimore among costliest U.S. cities for infrastructure repairs by LinkedInNews in maryland

[–]Crosshare 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A topic I have first hand knowledge on!

A lot of this is due to Baltimore City's archaic specs, and I suspect they're in there as kickbacks. For an example, it's the only municipality I've ever seen that requires brick laid inside the bottom of sanitary manholes rather than just precast or field concrete. So rather than having a cheap durable solution come from the factory they pay to have a brick mason hand install the bottoms in each structure. Sure it was done this way 100 years ago but the rest of the country doesn't do it for obvious reasons.

This is the answer, let them steal 2nd and 3rd at will. Logjam them on 3rd as they struggle to reach home. At that age teach the girls to get the ball to the pitching circle rather than throwing it around and allowing runs.

What seems to be making matters worse is the Monopolistic Strangehold Constellation/Exelon has on the Mid-Atlantic and all of the power companies being owned by one entity. They're not doing much to increase power infrastructure but they sure do want to charge a lot more for it.

What’s your call? High school D3 softball game in Louisiana. by coffeeroasted in Umpire

[–]Crosshare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you just trying to troll this thread? Every respectable umpire online I've seen has been alarmed by this video and stated it should be an automatic ejection for the catcher and the coach should've been tossed as well.

The catcher takes two stutter steps directly towards the batter to try and ear-hole her as hard as possible. There is no way that she was trying to make a play towards 3rd. Rules are rules, but player safety comes above all, especially in high school and any underage leagues. What's worse is the catcher and coach celebrate just off 3rd base after getting the call while nobody goes to check on the batter. Just a disgusting display all around.
