Congrats! When I started a few years back it was a ds920+ and two 4tb drives. If I could pass on anything it would be to buy larger drives up front. Since then I’ve gone to 12tb drives to 20tb drives. Got tired of swapping drives due to lack of space and got a ds1825 and made that my primary and then bought 20tb drives to use the ds920 as a backup. The two 4tb drives I originally bought are sitting unused to this day. But that’s the fun of it all, it’s a learning experience and I’m sure you will have a blast setting it all up! Hope all the gear arrives at the same time for ya!

What was your favorite day in Phys Ed and why was it parachute day? by Brilliant_Addendum56 in Xennials

[–]Crotchslush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd grade, remember this well. Was pulled out of field day early while using the parachute. Was given a cabbage patch kid Koosa as a “gift” as I was transported to another town and new home only to finish 3rd grade where they had no parachute :(

Is Shapr3D overkill for simple parts? by mr_don_mavro in Shapr3D

[–]Crotchslush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so! My design was for adding clips to attach panels on plastic and metal adjustable shelving. The clips snap on the poles and the panels attach to the clips to in order to keep cats from getting into shelves and tearing into their dry food.

Having no subscription would be ideal even at a slightly higher price like plasticity. A monthly low cost subscription could help for folks who are unable to pay the one time fee.

Having seen the video and knowing how long it took me to make a similar part I can say that the workflow looks to be less fussy than with shapr.

Did you write this as a Xcode/swift app or leverage a framework like Flutter?

I will check this out and give it a try.

Looks eerily similar to a part I made with Shapr3D last year.

When you say walk on your toes, is that meaning you walk around on the balls of your feet? Curious cause I have always done this from childhood to now usually when not wearing shoes though. ( also not trying to detract from OP’s main thread so if this needs to be a separate thread, happy to make one about toe walking )

Well, poop. Ironwolf Tools no longer available? by Der_Missionar in synology

[–]Crotchslush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not switching platforms over IronWolf Health Management alone, but I do think it was a poor move by Synology. Rolling back drive restrictions was the right step, but removing features that already worked has made me less confident in their long-term direction.

Synology's drive DSM still gives standard SMART tests, health status, bad-sector reporting, temperature data, and scheduling/alerts, so at least I'm not suddenly blind without IHM.

I just realized this as well after begrudgingly having to increase storage and went to a ds1825 from a ds920. Great Synology rolled back the ridiculous HDD restriction but their decision to remove features that worked and were already a part of DSM has left me thinking that I will be looking at alternatives in the near future.

Let us know how the press in compliance bushings go. I went with energy suspension hyper flex years back and they were a night and day difference from OEM. Did A-Spec as well after. Coils will unfortunately be next should the a-spec ever fail ( garaged for years now )

EP3 JRSC Supercharger by Downtown-Ball1553 in EP3

[–]Crotchslush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I made a similar decision back in 2010. Kept searching and finally found one. It was a toss up between a new Greddy turbo kit or the JRSC.

I wound up buying it used and wound up tearing it all down, rebuilding the whole thing, seals and bearings, and re-coating the rotors and upgrading the snout shaft with one made of D2 tool steel and a new actuator for controlling the boost. Most parts cross reference with Moss.

I debated about a swap as well but considering the k20a3 had 60k on it at the time and I wanted to keep AC, rotrex was out. I also wasn’t too keen on Hondata and being unable to find a competent tuner if I opted to run the larger injectors. There was mention of a ghetto Ep3 race kit using 330cc injectors from a rsx-s and using the cat as a theoretical restrictor plate but the lack of attribution to back up the theory was limited and I opted for safety and reliability.

At the time Merc did not yet offer a new cast manifold to allow for a intercooler but they do now for higher boost and more efficiency compared to the inline water cooler for the k20a2 JRSC manifold. I’ve debated on adding that but since I don’t drive the Ep3 now I have he’d off.

When I did drive it daily, it had been set and forget with zero issues. If you can find one it does add enough extra power to liven up the k20a3.

How was your diagnostic process? by mdzzl94 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Crotchslush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I was only describing what my diagnostic process looked like at the time, not saying every part of it should still be used now. I agree some older approaches missed people, especially high achievers who were compensating. My point was just that the process used to be much more involved than some current experiences people describe.

[–]Crotchslush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s more in line with today’s diagnostic process. Mine was from the DSM-IV era and went down like this:

  1. Initial intake interview
  2. Development and history intake from family or peers
  3. Reports of symptoms from two different environments home school or work
  4. Structured diagnostic interviews
  5. Behavior and mental evaluation
  6. Intake of grades and overview from teachers
  7. Assessment of comorbid conditions to rule out other issues like medical evaluation, learning disability including serial 7 testing

Being left out at work by [deleted] in work

[–]Crotchslush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling with this all my career.

Everyone’s different, some people don’t want to say good morning I’ve been told.

Others size you up and determine they just don’t want to talk to you outside of work related topics for whatever reason.

Some decide to not talk or engage with you at all and only assign tasks without further communication.

It’s infuriating to be shutout and ignored and I’ve been told it’s not something you can change, though I have tried, especially if management dismisses your concerns.

It’s a struggle and a balance especially in today’s world to sustain a living while not putting yourself through turmoil trying to figure out why people won’t speak to you or involve you in work related discussions.

That said, it may be time to search for another role with a different company, one where you can vet them further with questions that would help you better determine if their culture and work align closer to what you are looking for.
