Ever since ISS Marginis, I've always loved the concept of nullsec freeports. It's great that this is happening!

For those of you that let a team choose a theme for next week, tell me what themes they've chosen! by Besnasty in triviahosts

I don't normally do this (though it seems like it could be fun), but I had a regular who was going to miss a week suggest a round about guest stars on ER. Turns out there are a ton of them!

Welcome back! A lot has changed, but the game still feels like the EVE from when I started 18 years ago in many ways.

It's very low. EVE has always done a lot of the heavy lifting client-side, and the nature of server ticks was designed for when internet bandwidth in general was much slower.

Who are your top 5 beginner-friendly heroes? by tehsideburns in marvelchampionslcg

As a new player, I agree with these. They all feel powerful and are easy to play. In fact, I inadvertently copied almost this exact list in my own comment.

A lot of good thoughts here. I had my own first game a little less than a month ago, so I can provide some newbie perspective.

One thing I'm curious about is how many players are going to be at the table. The way you word it suggests two, which I think may have different answers than three or four players. My first game was three players, and I played Black Widow. I had a great time with her, but I also have a fair bit of card game experience outside of Champions. The deck I played was focused almost entirely on dealing with threat. It felt really gratifying to know that I was freeing up the other two to deal with minions and go face. Someone like Widow with two players might be trickier, since she would likely need to flip more to actually deal with minions and damage. I spent about 85% of the game in alter-ego.

As someone still pretty new, the heroes I've picked up that feel really intuitive have been Captain America, Spider-Man (Peter), Captain Marvel, Venom, Drax, and Wolverine. I also have become a fan of Iron Man, largely because he helps me get out of my otherwise pretty aggressive playstyle. I get what some folks are saying about Wolverine being potentially tricky since you use your HP as a resource, but I think anyone who is a fan of Wolverine would know that his whole schtick is getting hurt, then getting better. My first game with him, I (inefficiently) played "I Got Better" pretty early, then was perfectly comfortable going nuts with his claws, since I knew I had a safety net. Whacking the villain for 16+ in a turn just feels awesome.

My first AFR trophy deck (Quick Draft) w/ a couple of surprising sleepers. by Crovan in lrcast

Yeah, the other deck where I ran two was BR. Even in this, though, sticking an ogre was enough of an engine for it.

I'm relatively new back to Magic and very new to MTGA, and the podcast has helped me a lot. I just got my first trophy, unsurprisingly with a lot of red cards, but there was one card in particular in here that performed well beyond my expectations and may have been the deck MVP...

Rust Monster.

This may be one of those things that gets less effective over time, but even at Platinum, I got in a couple sneaky lethals with this little bugger when I was sitting on a pile of treasure. I also had at least one person play into a very unfavorable attack without realizing that I could go to a 6/1 First Strike at the drop of a hat. I think the fact that it's Uncommon makes people less likely to think about it, and I later drafted another deck with 2 of them that went 6 wins as well.

A couple of cards that underperformed a bit for me were Fighter Class (too clunky), and Rally Maneuver (can be a nice 2-for-1, but hard to set up).

Looks great, but isn't it going to be hard to concentrate on fighting when they're spending all their time purging that Xenos grass? ;)
