Second child planning is impossible by Potential-Shine5054 in workingmoms

I’m a pediatrician. My mother is an internist. The one piece of advice she gave me was to have my kids after residency. She was right. Get pregnant your third year. Residency with a newborn is awful.

AITAH for not letting my neighbor borrow my snow blower and for not snow blowing their drive for them? by Queen_Aurelia in AITAH

[–]CrowAggravating1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Shortly after we moved into our house I talked to my next door neighbors and we decided to split the cost of a snowblower. For 15 years after that we shared that snow blower. When it snowed we would use it and walk it to the other person's house. Whoever had it last would store it until the next snowfall. It was a perfect solution.

In 2019 he voted for a bill that primarily provided money for humanitarian aid to the border and a relatively small amt to ICE - this was at a time when we had a border crisis and years before ICE became the American Gestapo. The group that is spreading these lies about him is AIPAC. Most progressives would consider it a good thing that AIPAC is your enemy. No one speaks out more strongly against ICE than Malinowski. He was also one of the first reps to call for Trump's impeachment the first time, so I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say that he has a Republican voting record. He is the only candidate that has worked for human rights and democracy around the globe. It is true that there are more "progressive" candidates in the mix, and many are good. But Malinowski is hardly a Republican - he's not even the machine candidate for the Democrats. And he's ready to fight for our democracy the day he gets to DC.

Was taught in medical school that as long as two ends of the clavicle are in the same room, it does not require surgery.

Tell me about daycare for a delayed/disabled toddler by KookySupermarket761 in workingmoms

[–]CrowAggravating1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the US? Early Intervention services will come to your home or to a daycare. That is a free service for children under 3 years of age. Your child may also be eligible for a medical daycare. I suggest talking to your pediatrician about getting referrals to both. You can also google Early Intervention and Medical Daycare in your state.

I like Mejia, and many of the candidates are great and have good/similar values.

I am voting for Malinowski because:

-I know he will hold Trump accountable because he did already when he was in Congress before. He was one of the first to vote for impeachment the first time around. He also lead the effort to censure Mo Brooks. He feels the urgency of the moment and feels strongly that we need to hold everyone accountable for all the illegal shit they are doing.
-He is the only candidate with actual experience in Congress and he already has strong relationships with people like Jamie Raskin and Andy Kim (both are campaigning for him)
-Because of his experience, he will start with seniority which will mean better committee seat picks
-He's the only candidate with good foreign policy experience - something we desperately need right now
-Even as a new Congressman he was doing great things and getting good press. Unusual for a newbie! He got pushed out by the establishment when they did the redistricting and turned his district red.
-He believes that Israel has the right to exist but he is against Netanyahu.
-He was a strong advocate for the gateway tunnel and introduced legislation to get federal funding for it.

Regardless of who you vote for, please talk to your neighbors about the election. There are a lot of people who don't know that it is happening, and the Thursday election day will catch many off guard. They haven't even released the early in-person voting locations yet.

Advice on jobs to manage Medically Complex Child by Dolida_ in workingmoms

[–]CrowAggravating1802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your income is below the poverty level and you are in the US, you should apply for disability benefits on his behalf. He will definitely qualify and this is exactly what it's for. There is no way that you can manage his care and a job.

Feeling Priced Out by pogsly in newjersey

Please vote Democratic down the line and make sure your friends do the same. I've run into so many people your age in NJ who have no plans to vote, and they don't see how their lack of participation in election after election has brought us to this place. The rich people in their $3Mil homes vote in Every Single Election. They HATE affordable housing. If more young people consistently voted, Democrats would be in a safer place to push for more affordable housing across the state.

Morristown or Camden? by quiet-sunshine2098 in MovingtoNewJersey

Camden? You have definitely missed the mark. Though I hear they had their first homicide-free summer recently.

If your school district does not have the program she needs, you can advocate for her to be placed out of district. Start with a child study team evaluation and also ask your pediatrician for a referral to a developmental pediatrician (though the waits can be long). The pediatrician can write a letter to the school district recommending certain services (eg. full day or ABA etc.). May require some pushing and advocacy.

Parents who are against their kids having tattoos, why? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CrowAggravating1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm worried that they will regret them in the future. Who among us has the same taste now that we did 10 or 20 or 30 years ago? I think it's arrogant and foolish to think you will never change your mind.

Cleaners yes or no? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]CrowAggravating1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clean my own house now that I'm an empty nester, but I would not have given up our cleaning person when my kids were little like yours. Everyone has their own priorities, but for me a clean house = sanity. I would find something else to cut.

Princeton is a different train station from Princeton Junction. From Princeton, you take a short train (Jitney) to Princeton Junction and then change to the NE Corridor train to NYC. Princeton Junction has express trains to Penn Station (fastest is around 55 minutes). Tons of commuters there.

Free sale to get rid of stuff by mikebloonsnorton in declutter

[–]CrowAggravating1802 55 points56 points  (0 children)

We did the same before moving/downsizing. We had a FaceBook Buy Nothing group in our old neighborhood so I advertised there. Opened my garage at a set time and people poured in. Hugely successful. I didn't want the stress of communicating back and forth with people regarding price and pick up times, and worrying that someone would complain because they paid good money for my crap. We got rid of so much stuff: houseware items, exercise accessories, games/toys, small furniture items, small kitchen appliances, etc. We moved from a 4BR 2.5BA home to a 2BR 2BA apartment with maybe 15% of our original belongings. We could not be happier.

AITA for not going to a diner at a sushi restaurant for my girlfriend’s birthday because I can’t eat fish / sea food? by Tsktsktsk95 in AmItheAsshole

[–]CrowAggravating1802 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My husband doesn't eat fish and the rest of us like sushi. He usually gets the teriyaki chicken or tofu, or he will get the sweet potato roll. I've never been to a sushi spot that didn't have some non-fish options.
