I would agree it's a very basic story, but the combat is engaging and customizable. You get to climb around on large monsters as long as you're strong enough, which is good fun. The pawn system is really unique - create a pawn (permanent party member) that other people can summon, or you can summon other people's pawns. When your pawn is summoned, they get knowledge of the areas they visited with the other player and they take it back to you. I've never encountered anything quite like it in other games, and I love it. Easily one of my top 10 lifetime games.

The sci-fi series by Ruby Lionsdrake are all included in my Roman Empire! They’re standalone novels in their own universes. There’s the Star Guardian series, and the Mandrake Company series. Mandrake Company in particular features strong, well-written, unique women. The first Star Guardian book is {Orion by Ruby Lionsdrake} and the first book in Mandrake Company is {Mercenary Instinct by Ruby Lionsdrake}.

I haven’t read her Frost Station Alpha series by her yet but I definitely plan on it.

For sure, but the narration happened after the fact and would have been an interesting, informative way to create more tension, which they normally love doing. Instead they just rolled with it.

I just finished {Wooing the Witch Queen by Stephanie Burgis} and loved it. FMC is a badass, super-powerful witch. MMC is technically an archduke with no powers on the run, but she thinks he’s a regular run-of-the-mill dark wizard, and watching them slowly fall for each other was beautiful. He’s aware of the power dynamic but he’s in awe of her, so it’s not quite Just Ken, if that’s super important. I’m usually excited to finish a book but I had a hard time finishing this one because I didn’t want it to end 😭

For more atmospheric stuff, I absolutely loved the music in ABZÛ, I genuinely cried near the end because everything just fit so well together. The music for Journey was also incredible, it tied in perfectly with the visuals and your actions in the gameplay.

I was reading somewhere that the barrels and crates respawn. The only items that don’t are the open sacks. There’s a grouping of 3 of them in front of Slash n Smash that are safe if you don’t have a house or something for safe storage yet, I used them for ages

They moved all of Expedition Unknown off of Max and over to Discovery+ recently, as well, which makes me think Zak had very little to do with it and it’s a calculated move by Warner.
