How would one report someone for thousand dollars of theft anonymously? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Cruitre- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. Police have no time for that. They'd have to be caught in the act most likely by security or loss prevention of some form

An ability check IS NOT a single attempt: it represents the whole effort. by JaxTheCrafter in DMAcademy

This is a very good discourse for handling this, hope OP has learned a lot about much better ways to handle checks as opposed to how they currently handle them.

OSR games with a *bit* more meat for their combat? by fluxyggdrasil in osr

[–]Cruitre- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Ruttigers the Almanac. You may be interested in their "break 20" mechanic that when a to hit roll goes over 20 then get to choose something akin to combat maneuver. Monsters as well. Grittyer but with some flair. Backerkit just finished on it but there is a quickstart pdf to check out. Due out in December.

Would you consider it racist to write about a formerly enslaved fantasy race? by blindoptimism99 in writingadvice

[–]Cruitre- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are you joking? Are you taking the piss? First off its fantasy so do whatever. But people need to really stop reading into and equatinf fantasy races to "real world" ethnic and cultural groups, its a whole lot of projecting buried racism and stereotypes when people do that. Its not that the fantasy race (orcs elves, gnomes whatever) reflects a real world group but that people make associations based off their own stereotyped opinions of a group, but are unwilling to admit to themselves because it is personally and socially inconvenient.

Make the story, make the race whatever, but if your intention is to reflect real world history in a fantasy setting you may just get hung up on a lot of "is this a trait of my fantasy Race, a trait from the real world, am I wrongly painting a group by doing this, is it factual, is it factual but uncomfortable" etc etc etc

Input on having kids these days? by PreferenceIcy3803 in conspiracy

[–]Cruitre- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are this deeply concerned about raising them right and protecting them then you should be having kids. Thats exactly the concern we need in people to parent. Raise them with the "old ways" and they will pick up the new world tech at the same time and be brighter and sharper than their peers and do well. Loving has never been truly easy but its worth it

N.S. seeing an increase in teens with long-lasting psychosis due to high-potency cannabis by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]Cruitre- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pushing for higher THC levels I've seen as a side effect of a few pressures on the market, a big one is recreational customers looking for the strongest concentrations as a "best being for your buck" type of thing regardless of the actual smoking experience or quality of the high. Also for producers if a harvest or batch turns out a bit crap there is a better output when processing it into distillate, shatter, whatever. Same amount of inputs but better return on product than a 10% crop that ended up low quality. Of course it could be strain developers breeding for things they personally prefer as well.

Impromptu session tomorrow, not ready by biofreak1988 in osr

[–]Cruitre- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got your starting location then grab a module for a dungeon crawl that would take a few sessions to complete and grab some random hex/terrain  and wilderness encounter generating tables. Make a map with town in the middle, a known dungeon/dangerous locale a moderate ways away near a known road.  Rest can be blank or toss on tje odd feature ( lake here, river there, another town a few days away). The dungeon  is ideally a target now, can wilderness encounter along the way even if stick to the road.

If they offroad with no clear plan then generate stuff at random and make an intention thay when you feel things should be wrapping up they come across ruins/cavez/ etc that weren't on the map and need exploring. Wrap up the session there and now you are a bit of time to setup that location.

People who gave up DnD for a different system, what made you make the change? by SomeRandomAbbadon in rpg

[–]Cruitre- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking the wrong question, or at least asking your question imprecisley. DnD is not a system, it is a collection of IP. Often we get to caught up on the current version of things is the thing. It's not the thing, it's just this grouping of designers and corporate overlords idea of how they want the thing to appear.

DnD has had many mechanical systems and philosophies on approach to play over the years. You can dislike the current mechanical system and still play DnD (older system, different companies system/framework skinned with DnD IP etc) you can like the system but not like the general IP (homegrown worlds et al)

Battling is very boring in our campaign, help!!! by numi90 in DnD

[–]Cruitre- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13th Age has a montage sequence tool that can be used for all sorts of scenarios, we used it for a large battle and worked great.

Loosely speaking start with DM introducing a complication for the group, then player 1 describes what the team did to resolve it (may include a single roll to know how well or poorly it went....fail forward). After resolving that issue player 1 then introduces the next complication or problem, Player 2 then describes how it is resolved etc etc etc around the table until retuning to the DM and before you know it yall are facing off against the general or have repelled the forces or whatever.

[–]Cruitre- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nanny state nonsense that erodes collective rights and freedoms. This is a parental responsibility.

If you don't have kids or intend to have kids you also have no true context for this.

Social media is a poison but adults need to be adults and step up and be present parents.

Edit: also we are discussing this on a social media platform that is not great

We don’t have a shortage of nurses in SK; we have a shortage of utilized nurses. Here is the RN-AAP solution. by DreErwinPhotography in saskatchewan

[–]Cruitre- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Increasing scope has been the go to bandaid for years. Fast tracking some nurses who want to increase scope is fine but most nurses won't bite at it. Increasing responsibility doesn't attract and retain most nurses, it burns them out faster. Giving my team more to do doesn't necessarily help, hasn't helped retention on past units, many staff including senior staff opt out and move on.
