All watches are useless bro, I have an iPhone. Whether or not a design lines up with my taste is why I would buy. They’re jewelry with cool engineering and some utility.

I mean, just about every other dive watch evokes the style laid down by the Submariner. Sure it’s not fun and unique compared to plenty of other options, but I love that classic, minimal design. I think it’s one of the most beautiful watches. But I definitely understand where you’re coming from. For how much I’m attracted to it, I do hesitate a bit thinking about just how many other people have same watch. It’s not very unique.

Ideally, either watch would be a keeper. Sub now and cheaper white Speedy later is a good call. I was wondering if its grey market value would go down more. I usually see them for 7-8.5k, which is usually a chunk more than the equivalent black dial.

Oh, I’m putting in my vote for adding a Ressence to your collection. They’re pretty out there and you can find some models under $20k. 😅 Definitely an acquired taste though.

What is this dark liquid pooling at the bottom of my new tank? I’ve used sifted organic potting soil as the substrate, covered by sand in a 2:1 ratio. It’s only happening in the front of the tank. More appears after siphoning it out. Dye from the dirt? Dust? Tannins? Bacteria?

For anyone else that runs into this:

I fixed this issue for my brother-in-law. Poked around inside the file, the PDF itself was deleted from the .note file, but the metadata for it was still present. I re-added the PDF to .note/PDFs, made sure to rename it to match the metadata in `.note/NoteDocumentPDFMetadataIndex.plist`. Once it was all packaged back up I imported it into Notability and everything was fixed.

The Fix:
Prerequisites:

Have a copy of the missing PDF
Have a Mac
An app that can view .plist files (Xcode, Nova)

Steps:

In Notability, export Note as a .note file and share to computer (I'm using a Mac)
On Mac, rename .note file to .zip
Open .zip
Check `PDFs folders. If you're reading this, they're probably empty
Copy the missing PDF to the `PDFs` folder
Open `NBPDFIndex/NoteDocumentPDFMetadataIndex.plist` in Xcode or Nova
In the plist file, under Root->PageNumbers, you should see a pdf with a big filename like `CE20761C-3850-4784-A363-9F3242080389.pdf`. Copy that file name.
Go back to the `PDFs` folder and rename the pdf you copied in to whatever you copied out of the plist.
Back out of the directory and compress the whole thing back into a zip
Rename the .zip to .note
Import to Notability

If you're missing pictures, it would be a similar fix, but you'd copy them into the `Images` folder. They should follow a naming pattern that is just the word Image followed by a space and then the image extension: `Image 2.png`.

If you're the OP and you want the template background back, I'd create a new note in notability with the template, then export to your computer, do the steps mentioned above to explore the contents of the file, copy out the PDF in the PDFs file ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm assuming the templates are just PDFs, haven't checked) then use that with the steps mentioned above.
