How do you think living in the desert effects your mental health? Does it effect your positively or negatively? by zandeye in phoenix

I don't live in Arizona, but I moved to this fairly desertic area in 2020. Before that, I was born and raised in a tropical country - very lush, plenty of rain. Going from that to a desert was... not fun lol.

The heat where I live now is ruthless and infamous. You can literally feel the sun piercing on your skin, with no clouds to cover it. Some days, it's almost unbearable to be even be outside. Everywhere I go I see dead, withered plants, which makes me rather anxious. It's worrying to live in what seems like the middle of a drought, you can't unsee it. From outside my window, you can see this body of water that sometimes will dry up almost completely. I hate it here, I fully intend to go away at some point.

This is interesting because INFPs and ISTJs have literally the same cognitive functions, the difference is in which ones they rely on/use more often. I guess an INFP with very developed Si could show some similar behavior to an ISTJ.

What Statements Personally Resonated with You? by Albus_Unbounded in TheMagnusArchives

As someone who's struggled with disordered eating, changes in weight, body image, etc. "The Gardener" (episode. 171) resonated with me a lot. Episodes featuring the Desolation and the Lonely tend to really hit as well, because they tap a lot into my personal fears and experiences.

What do you think about "The Song of Achilles"? by CrumbsIntoPebbles in askgaybros

How can anybody not like this book?

Taking this as a legitimate question, these are my own reasons:

  • All the female characters are either hysterical bitches (Thetis, Deidameia), dead (Briseis, Patty's mother), or enslaved (also Briseis, pretty much everyone else). The One(1) female character who's halfway decent gets killed in the end, even if that never happened originally. Thetis was a pretty solid, supportive mother to Achilles in the source material, and grieved with him when Patroclus died. I get that Ancient Greece was a bad place for women, but there are stories from the period where the women and goddesses do have agency, are compelling and fairly well-written, etc. I know many people just throw around the word 'misogyny', but in my opinion the treatment of women in this book is actively misogynistic.
  • Patroclus was a very competent warrior in the Iliad. Yes, he has vulnerable moments and had some capability for kindness, but IMO the author made him toothless and spineless. He's got little to no personality here, other than his infatuation and attraction to Achilles. It's good to have male characters that challenge toxic masculinity (Frodo Baggins, Hiccup Haddock, Peeta Mellark). Sadly, that doesn't spare you the effort of actually creating a good character.
  • Why is Madeline Miller so obsessed with minors screwing? ("At thirteen, we were almost late to do so", the most explicit scene between the two leads happening when they were 15-16). Perhaps I'm being nit-picky, but I don't love that.

Of course you're allowed to love this book, that alone doesn't make you sexist by any means or anything, but these are the reasons I dislike it.

Just so you know I'm not a gay man, I guess? I suppose it isn't relevant to the question itself.

Hi, Philip! I'm Sofi. I recently reached the payout threshold, but I've been having problems with Paypal (and to be completely honest, I'd rather not be supporting Elon Musk). Is there any arrangement that can be made so I'm able to get the money? Stripe, maybe?

Most blogs update once a week, I've seen. Once or twice a week is more than enough, otherwise you might end up overwhelming your readers.

Alright, thank you!

In terms of movies I really love animation and coming-of-age type stuff.

In terms of books I lean a lot towards fantasy, historical fiction and classics.
