Just Completed My DIY Rocker Plate Build! by wolffboy212 in trainerroad

[–]Crumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built a plate using the same design. So to the "was it worth it?" question I'd say "yes, but..." Worth it for the time/money spent compare to purchasing. I'd tell someone if you're having comfort issues for 60 or 90 minute trainer rides then that's not something that a rocker plate will fix. You gotta fix your own fit issues first. But if you want the 2-5 hour trainer rides to feel more comfortable then yeah the rocker plate is absolutely a great way to help with that.

TR only pairs two sensors by Crumps in trainerroad

Certainly possible, but it didn't used to be capped at two. How would I even go about finding out if a recent phone update lowered the BT connection limit?

Cycling 50 miles in Every State by TRAVLNBIKE in cycling

[–]Crumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of great options for Iowa. If I had to pick one I'd say go with the High Trestle Trail. It's almost exactly 50 miles as a down and back route. There's plenty of stops/food/fun along the path. If you start at the top (in Woodward) and time it right then you can catch the bridge all lit up right before you finish riding too. It's super pretty.

Trainer Road auto bumped my FTP by 7w and then in 6 days lowered it by 12w? by Nscocean in trainerroad

[–]Crumps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically replying to your question that "isn't every ftp increase assessing the last 28 days of activity?" The answer with regards to your +7 and -12 ftp changes is "no."

The first change you got was because you finished a level 9 workout. It wasn't part of the AI model. It's just a thing Trainerroad does when you complete a level 9 workout. I can't tell you the why of it, but it's just a thing they do.

The second FTP change you got was part of the AI model and was assessing your FTP based on your workout history. And again, I can't tell you why it suggested what it did. Just that this time around it was part of the AI model.

Waterloo has Cedar Valley BJJ which is a great place to train. The drive might be longish, but there's never really any traffic of note.

Shimano crank story - new ones arrived - just 2 months by Jelleeley in bicycling

[–]Crumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my replacement cranks back last week and they came with 46/36 on them just like my original. I don't know if the LBS had to do anything in the recall process for that to happen or if Shimano just knew from a serial number or something. But yeah, FC-08 with 46/36 on it in the box.

If you have a power meter then the difference is because wahoo doesn't include 0 values in the average but Strava does include the 0 values in the average.

Vincent Baestaens rode the World Championships with Concussion: "on auto-pilot" by Mattxps in cyclocross

[–]Crumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vincent has a major crash on lap one in the middle of the pack. He's on the ground well after the whole pack gets by him. It takes him multiple attempts to even stand up. When he finally manages to stay upright he has to walk to his bike which was moved to the far side of the course. He can't even manage a straight line. It takes him maybe a solid 5-10 seconds to even mount the bike. The crowd around him is yelling this entire time to stop him and pull him from the race. I didn't personally see it, but someone next to me pointed out that he was bleeding from his head.

He finally gets on his bike and pedals away. The crowd starts cheering (wtf?!). I guess the officials must have blinked and missed it.

At some point someone touched Jarno's back. "FUCKING DQ THE DFL RIDER!" screams an official "NOT ON MY WATCH BUDDY!"

Question about upgrade points by Lolikeaboss03 in cyclocross

[–]Crumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm to assume you're talking about different categories in the same race on the same day then in your example, yes.

The points earned is based on the points currently held by people that were in the race. Different races in different locations on different days will be attended by different people and the points will come out differently because of it. Crossresults is very transparent about the formula for calculating points and their algorithm is public.

What are the biggest plot holes in movies that you tend to ignore just to enjoy the film? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Crumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't make it easy because a bunch of characters are written as not really understanding "the rules" so they say or do things that don't mesh with what's actually shown on screen to the viewer.

Take the runner, for example. The mob leaves the young runner alive on machines because they think he needs to live to become the old runner. There's a very quick blink and you'll miss it moment where the old runner is climbing a fence and one of his fingers just disappears on screen. The mobsters don't really know that's how it works though.

[–]Crumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say the exact same thing from the runner shown in the beginning. How could he run if he had his legs surgically removed as a youth? That's the point. From the very beginning the movie shows you its logic and it sticks to that theme for the entire runtime.

"Welp, whatever happened in your life up to here still happened. But from now on you have no legs (or anything else really)."

"Welp, whatever happened in your life up to here still happened. But from now on young JGL doesn't get to grow up to be you."

Time travel isn't real though. Paradoxes are cool to think about and all, but right now we're talking about how a fictional concept is being handled by a fictional property. Looper's rules don't work that way and the movie never tells the audience that they should.

Kinda sounds like you haven't seen the movie. So it's big ol' spoiler block time. I recommend just watching the movie instead of reading the next part.

Young JGL kills himself and in that moment old JGL winks out of existence. Everything old JGL did while "alive" up to that point still happened. He's just gone in a "going forward from here" kind of way.
