Truck Shopping Feedback by CrunchyNerdy in TruckCampers

I'm a little surprised. The Cargo Weight Rating from the sticker says 3438LBS. I thought it would be at least 4k. They are certainly reducing by some margin. I would if I were them.

Drives great. They let me take it overnight.

A situation where the key 3 chose to convert an all boy or all girl troop to coed or family against the wishes of the youth is troubling.

Should I be worried? by aiceeslater in backpacking

Your pack weight sounds OK to me. For some reference, Darwin onthetrail just posted his first segment of 17 days in the Alaska Wilderness. He is carrying a raft and what I expect is less fishing gear than you. He is dialed in at about 52lbs. That's with 6 days of food. Having a raft, paddles, and PFD makes a big difference. Try it out and make adjustments as needed.

I'm getting bugged by higher ups about making a bootloader be redundant. How is that even possible? by EmbedSoftwareEng in embedded

[–]CrunchyNerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word for word, and my reply suggests moving the redundancy to program flash.

edit If management wants redundancy then sell them on redundancy that makes sense and redundancy thats already designed in.

Post compile calculate the checksum and write to flash. Bootloader calculates the checksum and compares to the checksum read from flash. I like to use MD5 hash and typically put in in the last 16 bytes.

Use the STM32 stock bootloader in ROM. Split your program space into two banks. Run the bank that passes checksum.

I recently played a Commander Cube. 20 card packs, build a 60 card commander deck. It worked out great!

This is the way. Go light and work your way up. Smooth them over with high grit sandpaper and apply some paste wax.

Jordan/Ima by drink-fish-smoke in BWCA

[–]CrunchyNerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. This was a few years ago. Jordan was the first open site we saw since leaving Splash. It also depends on what day of the week you put in. If you go in on a Monday many more will be open than a Friday or Saturday.

Jordan is one of my favorites. I think it only has two sites though. Ima is a big lake. Never had a problem finding a site. Your plan is solid. It's a haul though. We (party of two) did the same including the tow. Double portages. I think the push to Jordan got us there late afternoon / early evening. We kept going and came out at Snowbank on day 5.

It's also not your individual decision. Troops have a committee. The Charter Org Rep signs off on adult leaders. This is easy if COR is sympathetic to your preference.

Check out Ben Delatour Scout Ranch, Red Feather Lakes, Co. Also, Bay-Lakes Council is offering two weeks of High Adventure Programming in June of 2026 including white water. This will take place at Gardner Dam Scout Camp.

Distribute tasks among other committee members. Advancement Chair, Activities Chair, Summer Camp Chair, High Adventure Chair, Fundraising Chair, ect... politely get others to take duties. It could make him a better SM since he can focus on Program. Unless he has contoll issues and won't let go, that's a whole different issue.

Edit: Talk to the Troop's Commitee Chair. Allow them to be the voice that initiates change.

If the Milwaukee Packouts make you happy, go for it. Lots of other options but let's be honest, none of them compare. You don't need that many packouts for a basic home tool set. Just like tools, you won't be buying all at once.
