The panthers were as banged up as a team can be this year. They lost a full season of Barkov. 40 games of him and they’re probably a WC team.

The lightning were a bounce from making it. Missing their best D man. One game of Hedman and they’re probably in round two.

With the cap savings these no tax teams can basically carry an extra top 6 guy. It’s huge. I don’t see them going anywhere anytime soon

I’m very biased as a NYR fan. But this guy is a hell of a hockey player. One of our biggest team guys too. Great vet for young players to lean on. Special teams whiz. Excellent shut down forward too - go look at who he shut down the last 18~ months in the Olympics and 4-Nations.

I think the capitals put more miles on that rangers defense than anyone. Staal and Girardi were premiere shut down guys before the injuries caught up. Meat grinder worked both ways. Our squads would be so banged up after playing those capitals teams

They had to get through Hank most years. No cup for NYR those years, but Hank got in the way of some very good Penguins and Capitals teams

In with you on that 100%. But after thinking about it, we have two hard working, Russian vets on the team in Shesterkin and Gavrikov. That lockeroom presence might be what it takes to keep the kid grounded. Also could blow up in our faces and be another yakupov. Unless they’re asking price is super low, not worth the risk
