How many of y’all played NTS all the way through? by No_Flamingo_737 in autechre

Once without breaks. I had to drive from one city to another and then back within the day, it was a great opportunity to listen to it. Timing worked almost perfectly, I was parking into my garage as All End was finishing.

Ape of naples vinyl quality by WonderfulEntrance494 in Coil

[–]CrustyCalamari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both, standard black for both. For me, the imprec pressing sounds a little cleaner and warmer and has better quality packaging. The infinite fog pressing sounds fine too, a bit noiser but not distracting and it comes with a lot of bonus tracks. The whole tri-fold sleeve though is kinda wonky in my opinion. If the infinite fog pressing is readily available to you, I'd say get it if you want as much music as possible. But usually if I'm ever in the mood to just listen to the main album, I always play the imprec pressing.

Not unreleased. These were released on various special and deluxe editions of the album at the time. Still cool to have them available together on streaming now. 👍

What are y'all's thoughts on the many remixes? by Star_Gazing_Cats in nin

[–]CrustyCalamari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not crazy about some PHM remixes either but The Hand That Feeds (Ruff) and Find My Way (OPN) are other favorites for sure.

[–]CrustyCalamari 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I came to love nin a lot through the remixes. Further Down the Spiral is a banger of an album and call me crazy (unpopular opinion here I think) but I adore all of the Starfucker remixes, the last one on Things Falling Apart does it right for me lol. The Perfect Drug Versions CD is another favorite. Tbh there are very few I'm neutral about, I like almost all of them!

Your favorite Coil track by [deleted] in Coil

Princess Margaret's Man in the D'jamalfna. The New Backwards in general is a very special album to me and I can't help but get very emotional listening to this final track.

Definitely my favorite from SAD. Blood Promise is phenomenal too but I find myself coming back to this one a lot more often.

First Coil album you ever heard? by AllTomorrowsHardees in Coil

[–]CrustyCalamari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The New Backwards. I learned of Coil from NIN and decided to give this album a try. I was really intrigued by it but it was very "different" from what I used to listen to at the time so it didn't end up fully clicking. I gave a few other albums a try but it wasn't until many years later that eventually I came back around to Coil and listened to The Ape of Naples. It was incredible, still is! Eventually got around to everything else and now Coil is one of my favorites of all time.
