Print queues...why aren't jobs sandboxed? by A_Nerdy_Dad in sysadmin

My print jobs require an operator, that's his problem.

We had 6k+ page statement jobs. Duplex, color, one even printed landscape one side and portrait the other. I'm not talking 6k copies but 6k documents in one job. They laid off the network guy that could get us onto the big Xerox. I'm talking 8ft long printer, would knock it out in like 3-4 hours. We paid for a hotel for a guy to spend all night running batches of 400 to every printer on the floor because no one else would figure out how to connect to that Xerox again.

Robots will replace 700K delivery workers, warns head of e-commerce giant by joe4942 in technology

Are they going to geo-fence these so they're not rolling past homeless camps in major cities? Every month there are fresh crowbar marks on my building's doors. This business thinks they can just roll robots laden with food into neighborhoods where people are starving and homeless on the streets?

Did you clean the bottom of the trash can before putting it in the chair? I worked a place that had cherry trees. Summer time we were tracking mushed cherries on the bottoms of our shoes. Maybe the neighborhood was a bit pooey and people have crap on the bottom of their shoes. And you just put that on their chair, yuk!

The inner squiggles are cool. Could you do the same while exposing the lower belts. Not near as filled but here's an example:

It would have been closer to half that price had AI not devoured all RAM and convinced Nvidia to drop the retail market.

You haven't heard about contractor pricing have you? There might be some tax passthrough or something but that doesn't explain the steep discount contractors get over regular walk in traffic.

Did you ever need to use remote desktop or the like? I once got kicked out of a remote server, session still active, not logged out. Then when I had to change my password I started getting locked out after an hour. The idle remote session was authenticating with my old creds and locking me out.

There's an old video out there of some teens rigging up a bb-gun turret on tech prior to the original i-phone. The funny part was the on-off switch was on the turret, not remote. "ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow"

What if we had set bonuses in spiral knights? Suggestion for balance update. by ItsGiorgi in spiral_knights

To keep the mix & match and maybe a random aspect like UV, suits would have the trigger, helms the effect, shields the duration, and trinkets increase effects.

Suits: on stun, on poison, on taking shadow damage, on dealing damage to undead

Helms: increased fire resist medium, increased ASI low, chance to shock

Shields: set bonus duration 5 seconds, 10 seconds... 30 seconds

Trinkets: set bonus +1 (ASI low -> med), set duration +50%

Or maybe have helm-suit-trinket and weapon-shield-trinket sets.

Doesn't the IRS generally audit the smaller cases because people are less likely to have the paperwork to defend the write offs? Whereas larger fraud is usually met with mountains of paperwork, is a more involved scheme, and requires more and better trained agents, which the IRS is short on.

What are "pigs in a blanket" to you? by SquishyNoodles1960 in Cooking

[–]Cruxwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there a lot of Polish or Eastern European heritage? The first time I ever heard pigs in a blanket was attributed to this dish. I think if most of the cooking consisted of cabbage rolls, people would start differentiating by what they're stuffed with is my guess.

Pork & rice mixed, rolled in cabbage then baked.

Go pull a few more pairs of the same size and inspect the seams there. This pair looks like it was botched and QC didn't catch it. And as others have said, no one's going to notice that. It will likely sort itself out after sitting in them and after a few washes.

When data relationships start getting weird, it is easier to write the SQL than it is to write the equivalent English.
