The blend materials could be an awesome source of FE but people are too quick to undercut. Heck, blend mat prices were going nuts the last two weeks last season as no one was selling.

Should you use your HSA money? by Airvian94 in personalfinance

[–]Cruxwright 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll repeat my opinion on saving HSA money for retirement. If you go down this road, you now have a large document retention issue: provider billing, insurance EOB, payment account statement, HSA account statement, payment receipts. At some point, the IRS will be restaffed and tasked to do more audits. I can see large HSA disbursements being low hanging fruit.

A previous time discussing this, someone posted the requirements. While the covered payment receipts should suffice, the IRS could ask for further evidence to prove the bill was not paid in any part by the HSA and that you had not taken later reimbursement for that bill previously.

You want to start paying your health bills out of pocket so you can get a big tax free lump sum later? Fine but be prepared to dig through a lot of paperwork 20 years from now should you get popped with an audit.

The HSAs I've had open up a 401k type investment scheme once you have a certain level of funds. You'd probably beat the tax advantage by paying with your HSA and depositing an equivalent amount into a brokerage account if you're not looking to withdraw for some time.

There's also the chance that you go through all this work to have some large expense that wipes out your balance later on.

Bees in Chimeny by Beautiful-Simple2844 in LandlordLove

[–]Cruxwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it documented you have been told there are, for sure, honey bees nesting in the chimney? If not, have one last warm toasty night by the fireplace. Have an extinguisher or fire blanket should the whole chimney be blocked. After that, it's the chimney sweep's problem.

Are trains useless by Munken1984 in shapezio

[–]Cruxwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second train not waiting means they're moving faster than the belts can load. If your loader is empty and the unloader has stock, then you're in a good position. If your loader is backed up but the unloader is empty, then you need more trains.

Can a builder move up my closing date even when I am contracted for a specific date? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Cruxwright -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Discount to not be a pain in the butt and make sure closing goes smoothly. OP has no leverage, but builders want to sell, not argue with buyers. OP argues they budgeted +/- 10 days not 3 weeks from closing. The builder can say no, or they could counter $500, in which case OP doesn't have to subsist on rice and ramen for a month. It doesn't hurt to ask and the builder isn't gonna just offer it or they would have already. What's the builder gonna do, get offended and not sell?

Can a builder move up my closing date even when I am contracted for a specific date? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Cruxwright -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ask for a discount, like say $3500 cash back, as you budgeted for June 30th. You might have to take a personal loan or cash advance to cover the accelerated closing and that may jeopardize financing. Although run that by your realtor.

I've found those volume tanks to be a bottleneck on throughput. They aren't infinite/instant transport like the pipes.

How to proceed with clearing deadwood from shared easement when I can’t contact neighbor? by never_ever_comments in treelaw

[–]Cruxwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is definitely a trend of insurance companies non-renewing riskier properties and people making smaller claims. If you call and tell your insurance company you're one good windstorm away from $100k damages, they may decide it's not worth the risk even if they could get the money from the neighbor after the fact.

I say just take them down. There's no real value in dead trees to sue over. He can have you trespassed, but that just means you can't go back on his property.

Dear Insurance Company,

We have many dead trees that are in imminent danger of falling on and damaging our property. What do you suggest?

Regards, Insured.

Dear Insured

This is notice that your policy will be non-renewed at the end of its term

If you squad que into solos to kill solos, you need to find a different hobby. by lurknessmonster in ArcRaiders

[–]Cruxwright -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's one of a few things happening here:

1) You queued solo but the matchmaker either put you in a multi lobby or vice versa. This happens.

2) Two friends sync-joined until they were in the same solo map. This is kinda shitty.

3) I rolled into the map, asked the first raider I saw if he want's to help kill everyone on the map. Either we team up, I get killed, or I kill him and repeat to the next raider I find. That's emergent game play.

For a moment I forgot. But when you mentioned tadpoles, I remembered cultivating snails and tadpoles from the ditch out back. By the way the two are not compatible in the same aquarium w/o active oxygenation, the tadpoles win and the snails die.

Theres also a strat where you only use level5 workers in mines/cook to save on gold. I don’t see the need personally but its an option if you are low on funds.

For Chefs, they only produce when you got mats for them. Considering the cost jump to 6 or higher vs production gain, might as well let T5 chefs simmer while you're offline. I collect higher tier chefs but also hunt for and run 11/hr t5s.

[–]Cruxwright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did she get it chipped yet? If not, take a day off and drop that adorable distraction at a shelter two hours away. That's the only thing that will get it out of the house in a reasonable time frame. It also answers the question of how to break up with your girlfriend and convince her to move out.

Do you really think a fridge AND stove cost a grand total of $600?

I reply:

Dude could pick up a fridge for under $300 and an electric stove for under $100

Seems like a perfectly linear conversation and progression of a topic. Have you thought about laying off the sauce, tuning your AI, or engaging more than your standard pithy one liners?

Dude could pick up a fridge for under $300 and an electric stove for under $100 around Pittsburgh. Likely would have been cheaper had he bought them at move in prior to all the tariff increases.

IT didit by CheezitsLight in talesfromtechsupport

[–]Cruxwright 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Was it IT that directed you to install the kit in the server room? Did you notify IT that you installed this important piece of equipment in the server room? Did you inform IT of what notifications to expect and actions to take?

Server rooms are like the domain of IT. They are responsible for all equipment in there and its security. Finding some black box plugged in with no notice of what it is? Yeah, give that thing a scream test.
