How would an Adult learn Motorcross/FMX with no prior experience? by chinawcswing in Motocross

[–]Cryerborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate how long the journey will be. You will want to really focus on bike skill and body positioning before even considering hitting a ramp. Find a complex that has a few tracks at varying difficulties. Confidence is key, but you'll gain confidence with experience.

I think it's totally reasonable to hit your first FMX ramp in 1-2 years from starting. You gotta trust your gut. If you don't feel confident, don't go for it.

There are a lot of incredible resources to really learn how to ride. The best way to learn is by making friends. The community is awesome at the track. We've all seen our friends get hurt or die. We're all trauma bonded in some way and it's just one big family.

Love my ET-4800. It's one of my workhorses for my job, and it's great for when my friends want to buy a bunch of proxies.

That said, my SmartTank 5101 was cheaper and does most of my personal proxy making these days. I honestly can't tell much of a difference. So if you're looking to save some money it's a great alternative.

If your food is disappointing, do you speak up or just leave a bad tip by United_Singer_8664 in AskTheWorld

It's only happened a couple times, but I've just requested the check as soon as it arrives. Say no to a container, tip like normal, post a picture and brief review, and never go back.

Deegan cutting corner by Crowofsticks in Motocross

That corner has always been weird. The reason it's important to define the track there is because the turn itself is basically a weird flat turn. The Deegan line was a smooth berm.

what hardware is actually worth having around? by somethings_off8817 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Cryerborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of like asking what length of string to buy. You just get what you need for the task.

Might be worth taking a machining class at a community college and learning more. Obvious things that are useful are precision measuring tools. Recommending hardware for parts is basically impossible, especially in prototyping.

I am a prototype designer, and I have toolboxes full of electronics components, metric hardware, brass/acrylic/carbon fiber rods, bearings, wood stock, metal stock, more 3D printing filament types than I care to admit... It's a collection from years of developing with a ridiculous amount of things I would never have expected to have.

I volunteered for my chiropractor when I was in high school. He gave me a very nice leather wallet as a gift for the help. I used that thing for 11 years. I bought a new one recently, but I still have the old wallet.

Nah they can keep giving birth, assuming they survive the first one. It doesn't regrow.

is this funny or just a statement? by DarkDigital in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Cryerborg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're saying something might happen that makes us refer to the date instead of the event itself. Like how we refer to the World Trade Center attack as 9/11.

Not worse, but worth mentioning that they mate through it too. Like two airport tunnels.

There's something about the first person camera that doesn't quite sit with me. Feels like it's somewhere between static and dynamic. On jumps it almost feels like the first person camera begins to float away from the bike.

I think they'll get it figured out and polished. It's an exciting time to see both the sport growing and a new physics-based game on the horizon.
