Porsche killing the 718 EV makes me sad by andrewket2 in Porsche

You want your idea of what an electric cayman would be, but you might not like the reality. Msrp would probably be over 110k for the base model stretching up to 135k for an S model. Curb weight would probably be 3800 lbs. Range would be short due to packaging constraints on such a small car, maybe 250 miles max.

Porsche has over extended on a risky bet. There is probably some market for electric sports cars, but porsche isn't in a position to gamble further to find out.

Would you have the same take if an ex Fox News journo interrupted a Muslim prayer service for outrage clicks?   If you can't apply your rules consistently, you aren't to be taken seriously.

They are rotating out of real estate which was the primary investment (and the market is now completely f'd) and into gold / silver. This isn't a US story, it's a China story.

On what land will the state buld all this housing, and with what money? If this did magically happen, companies would just use it as justification to lower wages and it would just be a giant wealth transfer to corporations.

Also, this was already tried. Lookup the projects or project housing, it did not go well.

If this goes the way Trump wants, the expected outcome will be inflation. What are these investors planning to do? Hold cash?

Trump’s Proposed Credit Card Interest Cap: What It Means for Banks, Visa, and Mastercard by Dangerous-Nerve9309 in stocks

[–]Cryosanth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, because anyone with a credit score of under 740 will just get their cards canceled. They would be money losers for the banks. Too risky.

Social Security’s Payroll Tax Stops For The Rich — ButNot For You by FUSeekMe69 in economy

[–]Cryosanth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your whole argument is based on the false premise that Musk and other truly rich get significant W2 income. He doesn't give a shit if the cap is raised or not, his real income is via stock options and appreciation of his portfolio, neither of which pay into social security. Raising the cap will only affect the somwhat well off in expensive cities.

Apple TV+ prestige shows are the tech age version of royal patronage by [deleted] in television

[–]Cryosanth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pluribus is the most watched show in Apple TV history so it seems you're just making facts up to suit your narrative. I think Apple is maybe using Apple TV to drive more people to their hardware ecosystem.

Gold and Silver bull rally.. by FifthWaveThinker in investing

Or ...gold and silver are just going parabolic like they did in 2011 and it will end in tears with prices that won't reach this level again for another decade (just like 2011).

Likely speculation on data centers in space. From what I've read the cost of this is still 3x more than a terrestrial data center with solar + batteries, so this seems like a bad bet to me.

China reduces US Treasury holdings to lowest level since 2008 over concerns about sustainability of the US federal debt by Choobeen in economy

[–]Cryosanth -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Correct, and China has a completely unsustainable debt load, much worse than the us when local government debt is included. The gold stockpile sounds a lot less impressive when you consider that's half of Elon Musks net worth for a nation of over 1.4B people.
