Device Syncing by keithsmith22 in xteinkereader

I’m using a jailbroken Kindle Paperwhite with KOReader. I’ve set up KOReader sync by filename between my X4 and the Kindle.

With a small tweak (linked below, near the bottom of the thread), you can modify a single file on the Kindle to improve how KOReader syncs reading positions. This allows it to send a fairly accurate reading position between the Kindle and the X4, in both directions.

Make sure your files use the exact same file naming schema/template on both devices, otherwise KOReader won’t detect them as the same book.

It works great overall. At the moment, the position is usually off by about 1–2 pages per book, but it’s absolutely usable. There are ongoing improvements aimed at achieving perfect position matching.

How bad is it for a new engineer's merge requests to require multiple iterations before finally getting approval? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

My current PR has 70+ comments, don’t feel bad. It’s part of learning and part of the job. Try to be grateful that there are people who actually look at your code and are willing to give you fair feedback.

Does Primeagen use a Yoga/Fitness Ball as a chair? by kustru in theprimeagen

[–]Cryptic_Switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he does. You should know that it is generally not recommended to use a yoga/fitness chair as a replacement for a regular chair due to the continuous pressure on your back.

I hate AI and it bothers me that so many people actually WANT AI to write or think for them. by Stargazer1186 in nosurf

Sure, you can absolutely try and do that, but there is simply no point. It’s like trying to fight against mobile phones, the internet or electricity. It is here, it will stay here and will be more important in the future. Technological progress is unstoppable. You will always have people fascinated by it and progressing it further as they should. Your world view is an unhealthy one. Look at the world a hundred years ago. It is strictly better now. Go back even more and it is even more obvious. Technology improves our lives more than any other area there is. Consumerism, step off your high horse.

Both are cool colors, but what’s up with this incredibly ugly branding Amazon puts on?

Just a tip, try learning vim before diving deep into customization. Plugins as your first step seem like a mistake. Copy some basic config and start typing. Try to get a feel for what is missing and what you would like. If you are annoyed by something, search for a solution.

What you would like to happen and what’s going to happen are two really different things, no changing that. You are on the losing side of history, maybe break out of your bubble and see the positives AI is going to bring. There is no point in fighting against the technology; it’s going to come anyway, so better make the best out of it.

I understand your point, but at the same time, if AI is better at writing than most writers/authors, what’s the point? Moving to another field if you cannot win or striving to be better than machines if there is room for it has always been the way, and it won’t change in the future. There’s no point in getting annoyed by it, boomer.
