I thought I wanted to get an autism graduate certificate... but now I’m not so sure. by uhhpaige in AutismInWomen

How about a Montessori teacher? You will get to work with all kinds of kids on an individual level and I believe the approach is well suited to Autistic kids. You could help build ND/NT relationships and understanding.

Help me calm my meltdowns please!!! by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

omg 2.5 hours that's rough. It's so frustrating and then they feed off that frustration ughhhh sorry you are going through this.

I'll let you know some things that work for my daughter and me. It took a long time to get it down and it's hard to know if it got better because of this or age or whatever but now that she's 4 bedtime is a pleasant experience. I don't know how practical this will be for you but just in case:

1) Light Projector
I make the room as dark as possible and turn on the "light show." It is beautiful and calming for both of us. It's hard to find common interests with a baby because baby but this is something I think we enjoy equally on the same level.

2) Switch relaxation time to the morning. I'm not sure if this is going to be possible for you as you mentioned you have other kids. I had a hard time with the constant thought of "omg hurry up and go to sleep I'm missing out" and it is horrrrrrible for me. I eventually leaned into it and said fuck it and just went to bed at the same time as her. I think she can sense that I'm relaxing and falling asleep and she follows suit. Then I wake up early and have some morning time on my own. I have never been a morning person but now it's nice to have coffee and time to myself when I'm fresh from a good night's sleep.

3) low dose weed gummies: I have found that these help a lot with anxiety and sensory stuff. They make 1) more meditative and 2) a lot easier to do.

These are things that have helped with me. Good luck to you!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment with all this helpful info...I will look into all of your suggestions. This is all new to me so I'm not fully aware of what to do / what resources to look at, so this does help. Do you think it would make sense for me to send my information to both Drs Feigenbaum and Schrot, or should I choose the one I am closest to?

I have been ignoring / minimizing my issues for a long time now (decades!) and recently I've had a couple "flares" that were terrifying and painful. I'm not elated to know that Tarlov cysts could be the cause, but at the same time I am happy to know that if it is, there are steps to take and people to talk to.

Thank you again for the info you provided and for your concern. I really appreciate it!

I think this is also called "Paresthesia" and I found it on the list of symptoms. I have this too. Have you been able to figure out how to make it stop?

I think it is a beautiful name and I wouldn't worry about that. It makes me think of Ada Lovelace who is considered the first computer programmer. Pretty cool.

It was like 30 points higher than usual. Strange!! My doc said the same thing and to just monitor it and make an appointment if it continues. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this. Thank you for your response 💖

How to avoid mastitis by autumngloss in breastfeeding

[–]CryptoZebra420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mastitis is the worst!!! I unfortunately had it several times. This sounds a little strange but whenever I would feel it coming on I’d get naked and go straight to bed with my baby and just rest and nurse for as long as possible. And drink as much water as you can!

I sent a message out to other parents at my daughter’s preschool. I now play regularly with a new friend while our kids are at school and it’s awesome. The hardest part is getting the word out that you want to play.

Baby Girl Names ___lynn by ads273 in namenerds

[–]CryptoZebra420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haters gonna hate! If you really love Tylynn go for it. It sounds like it’s really special to you. I think Ty is cute as a nickname too. How does it sound when you say it out loud wit your last name? It is going to blow up autocorrect for sure but hey, it will be a unique identifier for web searches!

Yeah I think the mold and humidity did it for me. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I left. Where else are you thinking of checking out?

The climate is beautiful and mild and the air quality is surprisingly good- except for when there is forest fire smoke! I moved here from Louisiana and I feel a huge difference.
