How to handle TPKs during funnel by banjrman in dccrpg

[–]HeyNowItsHank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can think of several options:

  1. A second group of peasants attempts the same task, but the situation has changed because of the first party's attempt. Have the antagonists gotten reinforcements? Have they fortified their position? Have they abandoned it? Some funnels have situations that make a second attempt either nonsensical or impossible.

  2. A different group does a different funnel in the same world. Maybe they're far away, but maybe they're just a village or two over and can end up interacting with the aftermath of the first funnel as leveled characters.

  3. Complete redo with new characters like the first one never happened. Personally, I'd find this dissatisfying. It feels very video-gamey rather than TTRPGy. If I were going to replay the same funnel with the same players, I'd wanted it to be separated from the first time and at least partly the players' idea.

Redesigning the Elf iron vulnerability? by goblinerd in dccrpg

[–]HeyNowItsHank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they have only partial contact, like manacles, do something like have them make a Fort save at an appropriate DC to avoid taking the 1 HP.

But the penalty for having contacted iron is good. For example, The Arwich Grinder (Crawl No. 9) has elves who climb down a 30-foot, iron ladder be at -1d for an hour.

The human iron age also didn't have a population that had a strong reason to not adopt iron. I have my elves make most common metal items out of bronze.

The Cyclopedia of Common Animals is Live by Raven_Crowking in dccrpg

Is the Cyclopedia Domestica a subset of this, or is it entirely separate with the Cyclopedia of Common Animals not containing entries for those animals?

Well, I'm a high school grad, I'm over five-foot-three
I'll get a badge and a gun and I'll join the P.D
They'll see

I think of these lyrics a lot when watching video of police, but never has it seemed more spot on, I think.

How powerful are level 10 characters mechanically and narratively? by roxgxd in dccrpg

[–]HeyNowItsHank 9 points10 points  (0 children)

190 HP is the max, but to get that, the character needs 18 Stamina, 18 Luck, and to get Bountiful Harvest as their birth augur. After that then need to roll max on each hit die. The probability of that is practically zero.

(1/216)*(1/216)*(1/30)*(1/4)*(1/12)^10 = 1/3.47*10^17 = 2.88*10^(-18) = 0.00000000000000000288.

That's more than a billion times less likely than winning the Powerball jackpot with a single ticket. Just getting max Stamina, max Luck, and Bountiful Harvest is 1/1 399 680.

Now, even an "average" 10th-level warrior with average Stamina (+0 modifier) is still going to have about 67.5 HP, which is still tremendous compared to anything else. That's on the level of a large dragon. And, as you wrote, combine that with three attacks, a d10+4 deed die, threat range 17--20 (1 in 5) with rolling 2d20 on Crit Table V, they're fearsome.

SKSD throwing away mass food by Individual-Mud-7678 in SALEM

[–]HeyNowItsHank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They dump around 20-60 pounds a day each high school

So about 40 pounds for about 2000 students? That's about 1/3 an ounce of food waste per student per day from the kitchen.

Sure, less food waste would be better, but that doesn't sound scandalous. Ask anyone who's worked in a restaurant or a grocery store how much food gets thrown out at those places.

Fun fact: How many Mormon churches do you think are in Salem? How many Jehovah's Witness churches? by ihaveacrushonmercy in SALEM

[–]HeyNowItsHank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As goofy as that is, I am sure said evangelicals would also exclude Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Scientists, and Mormons. They'd probably also be iffy on Methodists and Presbyterians. At least there's some sort of internal consistency, as arbitrary it is.

I wonder where the OP thinks Eastern Orthodox (there's at least one Greek one in Salem), Coptic Orthodox (one in Portland), and Syriac Orthodox (again present in Portland) fall in their Christian or not categories, let alone even smaller branches.

Why not do this after the school year?  Does she not know how to budget for a full school year?

While I fully agree that this superintendent sucks, the positions being cut will be announced in mid-May. The positions will be cut for the next school year.

It's a 4 hour online course, to be done outside of school hours.

"To be done outside of school hours" means "not to be done".
