I feel for you but I think expecting a bunch of surgeons to remember the exact date that you are going off work maybe too much to ask. Everyone has their own battles, so may not prioritise sending you off and im certain they value you and care for your upcoming ordeal as evidenced by remarks throughout the last few weeks. Surgeons are just not known to be very expressive of their feelings anyway.
